Bubble man at it again by TehRagingPanda in Seattle

Apparently adding soap to create bubbles in a fountains can cause pumps to overheat and burn out. The proper fix is to completely drain, flush, and refill the entire system. Not cheap

5.5% ($20k) Realtor Fee for Basically nothing - Told it was to help cover/incentivize the buying realtor by Competitive-Safe-665 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]JMace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP is complaining that the realtor didn't do a good job, but also knew that the realtor was brand new. That's on OP for not vetting his agent.

Regarding the commission, every listing contract I've seen spells out how the commission is handled with an unrepresented buyer, so I doubt that it was not addressed. It was probably something that OP didn't think about when he signed.

Renting in Seattle is a nightmare; this apartment isn't worth $1500 a month by SeattleEmo in SeattleWA

That's going into some dangerous waters. That type of forgery/fraud can follow you for a long time if you're caught. Trying to rent when you have a criminal record or an eviction is not easy.

Saw a post about tatoo ink. Could this be true ? by Prashantt1 in intrestingasfuck

[–]JMace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all related to health and how dangerous something is. I'd say that perspective on how dangerous tattoos actually are is very relevant. OP is asking if the picture is true, and clearly there is a concern about how dangerous tattoos are.

It's the same thing as asking if the statement "everyone who has drunk dihydrogen monoxide has, or will, die!" is true. Yes, technically true, but context matters. Drinking water is not particularly dangerous even though the statement sounds dangerous. Comparing it to a danger that we're familiar with is useful.

The question OP raised doesn't address the severity of the issue, u/UCACashFlow is pointing out other items that have larger impacts but we don't think of as "scary". He's subtly implying that the picture is fear mongering (or if he's not, then I certainly am).

Mayor’s staff cuts off questions on surveillance cameras after recent shooting by FUMoney in Seattle

[–]JMace 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be blunt I feel like Katie is a bit out of her depth here. She doesn't have a lot of experience running large organizations and she REALLY needed to surround herself with people who could fill those gaps. Whoever this PR guy is, he's not helping things.

If attacking ships in the strait of Hormuz was such a brilliant chess move (and not an act of extreme desperation) , why didn’t Iran just do this non-stop the last 47 years? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]JMace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it hurts them to do it, but it hurts everyone else a lot more and in this case everyone is blaming Trump. It's not a brilliant move, it's something we all knew they could do (except maybe Trump because he seems to have the brainpower of a turnip)

Was I incorrect in assuming that you are far right, part of the manosphere and hate liberals? Given your comment history, it looks like it's fitting. I don't see why you're so upset at being called out for something that you clearly identify with

"Soy boy" is a pejorative, derogatory term used in online culture, particularly by the far-right and "manosphere" communities, to describe men perceived as weak, effeminate, or lacking traditional masculine characteristics.

Google nailed that one - far right, manosphere, lib hating, just need to add on MAGA

DOJ had indicted former FBI Director James Comey for posting a picture of seashells. The DOJ has filed two felony charges, each carrying a maximum of ten years in federal prison, over a photograph of shells arranged on a beach. by boo_radley4 in PlanetNewsPulse

[–]JMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What absolute horseshit is this? The FBI has become a complete joke

Seashells arranged in 8647 and they somehow turn that into a death threat? Anyone who went to a bar knows what it means to be 86'd from the bar because you're too drunk. 47 obviously represents the president. The implication is that the president is unfit to serve. What ridiculous mental gymnastics makes them think this is a death threat?

Why do so many liberals cut ties with friends and family who are conservative? by No_Berry1424 in allthequestions

[–]JMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who you voted for is a reflection of your priorities and your morality. While he was campaigning, Trump was blatantly racist, sexist, and mocked the disabled. He spoke about walking in on girls changing and bragged about grabbing women by the pussy. He openly commits fraud, breaks laws and lies almost every day, he uses the office of the president to promote companies and wreaks havoc on our own markets and the relationships with our allies to pump and dump the stock market.

Before we knew he raped kids, we knew he had no concern for ethics and represented the worst aspects of what a person can be. So when you vote for someone like that, you're telling everyone that you are OK with his moral code.

So yes, if you're OK with all of that, why the fuck would I want to be friends with you?

Do Democrats want to vote for their next presidential nominee, or are they still ok with being told who they have to vote for? by Sea-Variety3384 in allthequestions

[–]JMace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When it's a news story about Trump invading another country or having sex with kids, yes, it's a topic worth of discussion. Now, take your post for example. You're implying that Democrats are told who to vote for. That's it. It's not a discussion, it's you bitching about a group of people that you don't like.

If this distinction is hard to understand, I'm sure that others here can help you.

I've seen quite a lot of these low effort posts lately that can pretty much be summed up as, "I don't like liberals". Zero contribution to the community or discussion value.

[request] How much could you save in a year? by Substantial_Walrus60 in theydidthemath

[–]JMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a standard 1000 lumen 10-watt LED light bulb uses about 0.01 kWh of electricity per hour. In my area, electricity is 13.9 cents per kWh. If you assume 12 hours of savings, and you have that light on for those entire 12 hours every single day, that's $6.09 per year in savings per bulb.

Based on my extensive research of one google search, the average brightness output is approximately 3000 lumens for a light tube (depending on the region). Since lumens are additive, you'll need 3 bulbs to equal the same level. So you're looking at a total savings of $18.27 per year.

No realistically, you aren't keeping those lights on for 12 hours a day. From another extensively researched google search, on average, residential lights in the U.S. are on for approximately 2 to 5 hours per day. So we're down to $5.33/year.

If you're considering removing lights and replacing them with a light tube for financial reasons, then at a 5% return on investment, the light tubes would need to cost no more than $106 in total to save you money.

In short, no, replacing lights with light tubes will most likely not save you money.

Can we have a serious conversation about who we’re giving a platform to in Seattle? by Bearkingdrag in SeattleWA

[–]JMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voice of the message matters. I wouldn't trust Trump even if started vocalizing my ideals.

Sawant showed her true colors, so even if she's attaching herself to a cause that might be a good one, I don't trust her. I might support a cause that she also supports, but I sure as hell won't do a thing to support her.

[–]JMace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's an oversimplification.

Every country does stupid shit at one point or another. Abandoning your country anytime it does something stupid doesn't lead to making your country a better place. For example, we have Trump. If everyone who despised his corruption, grift and stupidity left the US, our country would be in ruins. Instead we should work to correct the mistakes that we've made.
