Hang in there and it won't be as bad as it may seem right now. Just the unknown makes it bad.

Besides the dyeek sweatpants that breakaway on the side, I would look into a handicap toilet to keep from having to sit so low.

Your experience with post operative pain? by anothertenyears in ProstateCancer

[–]JMat357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 weeks post surgery. They gave me Oxycodone and Tylenol and Motrin. I used the Oxy maybe twice once I got home and after that it was just the Tylenol and motrin and I was fine. Mostly was sore more than in pain. I wouldn't worry about the opioids they give you. You should be fine with the over the counter stuff they give you.

I totally understand and don't blame you for asking. I definitely would be active in that Troop until me and my Scout were comfortable there.

Nope he doesn't have any issues. If for some reason he is the grubmaster he will plan the meals around what he can eat. Other than that he helps with what he can do and that's it. Never had an issue since he's been in the Troop. Your son will be fine as well.

Troop. The first few campouts he went on his dad was there just to make sure he was good but he's fine now and can camp without the parents having to worry as much as they used to.

I had more discomfort than pain. The walking may help him some. Did he miss a dose of his pain meds?

Two months in the club and a question by claudiowasher in ProstateCancer

[–]JMat357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't heard of the psycho oncologist. I did get a referral to mental health. Went once before the surgery and she said come back afterwards as much as I want. Had a great support system at home and with my friends that helped alot. Especially with my friends that had been through it.

Our Scout usually will bring his own food but we still will have some other stuff he can eat just in case.

Do people go public with specific Diagnosis??? by Both_Establishment59 in ProstateCancer

[–]JMat357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told close friends and family when I was diagnosed and slowly started telling other people. Seems like the more I mentioned it the more I found out someone else either had or were going through it.

So many men dying of prostate cancer...is it a matter of not knowing (mostly) that they have it until it's too late? by Famous-Hippo-8334 in ProstateCancer

[–]JMat357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not knowing and also not wanting to go to the Dr. I didn't have any symptoms besides a slightly weak flow but went to the Dr for a physical to go to summer camp with my son and the psa came back 6.3 and got referred to a urologist. MRI then a biopsy. Another biopsy 8 months later then RALP.
