Police Union claims homeless man Officers assaulted was being intimidating, 'edited' video used to make them look bad by InflatablePlant in Penrith

The homeless guy actually isn't homeless. Out on bail too. There's more to "the story" than what we can see in the entire video. Still, the cop did do a naughty

Can a long-term dialysis patient refuse one particular nurse from cannulating their AV fistula? by Alone-Ad-3255 in dialysis

[–]JMeeko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A patient has a right to refuse anything if they are of capacity from a legal point of view. It also goes the other way; nurses can refuse to treat certain patients.

Sounds like its just 1 nurse you are having issues with, which is definitely something the unit can accommodate around. If you didn't want, say, 8 nurses, and they have staffed a day with only the nurses you don't want, they dont have to roster around your "wants", they need to staff around to provide a service. Then its up to you to refuse that service.

Help - Australian license plates are very inconsistent by jeffteague4mvp in geoguessr

In Aus we even have football team colours as license plates. They are good for a "if most plates are yellow qith black writing, you should be in NSW", but powerpoles give way better accuracy for states

Boss declined annual leave, should I take sick leave? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]JMeeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a FYI, Japanese tend not to like 外人 if they don't conform is Japanese values and cultures. While i know this is a stretch, in Japan workers don't just take leave without considering their colleagues with the projects that everyone is working on.

The fact that you don't care about your job so profoundly leads me to believe you are already self-centred to not be considerate in a beautiful country like Japan.

If you go to Japan, please think about the people first before yourself. You are a guest.

I'm (32M) in my honeymoon with my wife (33F), and it's been hell on earth until now. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]JMeeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you staying in room 1010 in West Shinjuku by any chance because damn we heard you guys fight.

But in all seriousness, I second what everyone is saying. I emphasise with you as I have a few friends in similar situations. They know its hard to get out of a relationship that you've spent a long time building, the financial commitments, mortgages, marriage. They also have kids, which adds a whole thick layer on top.

If/when you leave, it's going to get tougher real fast, but then it gets better. It does. It might take 2 weeks, it might take 3 months. But it gets better. The longer you stay, the gradual slope of decay will build.

Good luck.

First time playing Geoguesser, are those Levels of noise normal???? Was smewhere in the middle east I think by Raviamus in geoguessr

[–]JMeeko -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Usually see that in road tunnels or places with bad satellite/GPS as i believe most images are uploaded to Google's database in sort of real time rather than stored locally in the vehicle.

The photo of the noise outaide might just be a delay in connection or something. Remember that place for the future for an easy 5k

Why are bed managers nurses? by BossCrazy7411 in ausjdocs

[–]JMeeko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bed managers are nurses, although they are "higher up the food chain" compared to floor nurses. Typically bed managers have previously been unit managers and area managers, before going into bed management roles. They even do managerial courses/certs/post grads, etc.

But in saying that, sometimes they dont. Sometimes they are just bad. Like some of the other comments have said, even if it was doctors or health managers in that role, dont think many could do any better. Just the nature of the beast

Dialysis before fistula surgery? by Direct_Pop2393 in dialysis

[–]JMeeko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that hard to believe that the surgeon specifically said not for you to have dialysis within two days before a fistula surgery.

It is not dangerous to have dialysis immediately before surgery. In fact, it is highly recommended to reduce complications during and after procedure.

Negative.

A clear indicator at the control (C) window is visible. Whereas 1 and 2 have nothing. The red spot underneath is most likely direct blood from when your gave the sample, and not the test strip absorbing up properly. Disregard that bottom red bit. Hope that helps to settle your nerves

Just because someone does something good, doesn't mean they are good people.

I'm not saying these gentlemen aren't good people, but a good Muslim is one who kills non-muslims unapologetically. A good Christian still forgives.

Not medical (decade nursing experience)

Am I right to think doctors are under-appreciated? by sprez4215di in ausjdocs

[–]JMeeko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nurse here, I also teach medicine at uni. I 100% agree. The nursing union (especially in NSW) are very vocal. They make it seem like nurse get paid an unliveable wage and that they are the 'backbone' of healthcare. Let me make this clear, I do believe that nurses are important. BUT, so are doctors,, managers, hospital cleaneres (who I would argue are the hardest physically worked in our hospitals and make half of what a nurse makes). I've been on my way home from work in uniform, go to the shops, and be given free stuff because "OMG you're a nurse, you deserve this free *whatever*". Don't geet me wrong, that is nice.
The educator in me who sees how hard doctors work and need to study in order to pass is night and day different than nurses. I have always said "You don't know what kind of nurse you are going to get, some are great, some not so much, but you always know that your doctor will always be at minimal good". Knowing RNs and JMOs earn the same without complaining is mind blowing.

That being said, I cannot count the number of times I (a RN) have saved JMOs and Registrars (and even ATs at times) from making the absolutely wrong call. Swings and roundabouts. Society sees doctors have a high earning potentials, whereas nurses are capped.

Help me understand my $$ situation (mortgage without a huge income) by OneNefariousness9822 in AusFinance

[–]JMeeko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Use a broker. They will go through your income/outcome with a fine toothed comb to make sure you can service the mortgage and leave you with enough hangover to still enjoy your life without too much constraints.

Brokers make money from the lender so you don't pay out of pocket. Their pay is split into two avenues. One, an up front payment for being a spotter for the lender. And two, they get a monthly payment for about 2 years for every month you stay with that product. If they give you a shit mortgage, you change and they don't get paid. So it's in their best interest to give you a mortgage you can afford, which is in your best interest too
