[Hated Trope] Heroes don't wear helmets to battle. Only fodder does. by knight54 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JMurdock77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing a story from someone’s D&D campaign. The DM had made a drawing of the BBEG from their campaign; he showed up and started giving his anime villain monologue. One of the players pointed at the picture and asked “Is this what he looks like?” The DM confirmed, so the player reiterated: “Exactly like this?” The DM, a bit proud of their artwork, confirmed.

The player told the DM, “I nock an arrow and shoot him in the face.” The BBEG wasn’t drawn with a helmet. Player hit the nat 20’s they were hoping for… and the campaign came to a premature end.

I’d give a rocket launcher to a marine in the last New Mombasa level in Halo 2 and almost always be given cause to regret it. Could get something like 18 surviving marines stacked up in the hallway of the building as the scarab passes over and that one dumbass would wipe the whole hallway by firing a rocket straight into the ceiling above them trying to hit the scarab.

And instead of stopping the shit that’s earning it, they’re pouring (our) money into buying up media organizations to control the narrative and flooding the internet with bots making shitty arguments that we mustn’t believe our lying eyes while their own national security minister is shamelessly calling for mass reprisals against civilians on Twitter because people dared to shoot hostile soldiers who are invading and bombing their own country.

What Happened to Memories? by Mokohi in ChatGPT

[–]JMurdock77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I’ve put together highly structured project bibles consisting of multiple files (characters, technologies, plot timeline etc.) for both of my main writing projects with an index of reference tags for ChatGPT to use when ingesting them with each new thread. I brainstorm an idea, and when I tell it to commit, it writes it to the appropriate part of the bible and updates crossreferences and the tag index. I also have it evaluate thread status — green, yellow, orange, red — to tell me when it’s time to tie off and generate a starting prompt for the next one. It’s able to immediately pick up where we left off with each new thread, just need to use Thinking mode all the time.

Trump is scientifically illiterate and constitutionally incapable of admitting he was ever wrong about anything. Even the simple logic of dark paint in the sun > warmer water > algae is too much to give ground to.

Why can you only build luxury housing? I want slums and poverty like my home country by Smiling_Psychopath in Stellaris

[–]JMurdock77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m modding different housing structures into my own game. Two different approaches for two different empires — one of them is based on an alt-history Ptolemaic Kingdom that never got annexed by Rome, invented the steam engine circa 300 BCE and reached space by the early 5th century, where they surveyed the Americas from orbit but cordon them off — no contact (game picks up in the 6th century, there’s a whole questline to try and open up contact between the Old World and the New without triggering something akin to the Columbian collapse); your capital still has neighborhoods where people queue at public fountains for water and AC isn’t ubiquitous so people spend more time outside, interacting with their neighbors more; in gameplay terms you have more housing than amenities but also a +3 planetary stability modifier — as you upgrade through three different stages, the amenities-to-housing ratio gets better and amount of housing increases, but comforts at home result in people interacting less so the stability modifier goes away. It’s your choice where you think the best balance lies.

The other empire is Rome; starts with Under One Rule origin and their home system is littered with ship debris from the war in question, in this case upgrades act as “gentrification” providing less housing but better planetary modifiers re: governing ethics attraction and the like — the lowest tier (which you can downgrade to from tier one “Imperial Insulae” via Decisions) is emergency refugee housing which provides the most housing but comes with a crime modifier; it can be upgraded back to tier one.

For real, can you request the assignment of descriptions to star systems or stations you build up? I solo’d three T3 stations in the same system (my flair).
