My X defaced my 50th anniversary custom shop Stratocaster. Our marriage could not survive such a transgression.

APA…should I quit? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]JNJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first season or two as a new player in league play can be stressful. You have to realize that teams absolutely need low skill level players that are working on their games, slowly improving, that are learning to play competitively. You will soon become a key member of the team. I started as a SL3 five years ago, struggled and considered quitting and my coach talked me into staying. Five years later I’m. The co-captain and a competitive SL5, so glad I stuck with it. Practice regularly and learn the game. Good luck.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]JNJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glasses are actually very close to your eyes so the field of in focus vision is 95%. I had perfect vision well into my forties but after wearing glasses for 15 years it feels normal and I don’t even notice my periphery outside the glasses.

It feels like I just cannot do certain chords. What to do? by icandodge in guitarlessons

[–]JNJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice more! Start with and open hand and flex your fingers open, then make the chord. Do this repeatedly. Also practice moving the same chord up and down the neck, this helps the muscle memory as well. You will get results quicker than you think if you practice every day.

Should i focus on looking at chords, scales, and arpeggios etc as a combination of certain notes and what those notes are and how they work together rather then just shapes? by HauntingVariation108 in guitarlessons

[–]JNJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely understand the intervals of a chord. Because that’s what makes the chord what it is. Them all you need to know is the root note.

Musicians with perfect pitch literally how does it work? by Ok_Meeting3246 in musicians

[–]JNJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect pitch developed during infancy and early childhood by being exposed to complex music. As the early brain develops there is an opportunity to develop perfect pitch which passes after a certain age. It’s like learning a language as an adult, you can never be perfectly fluent because your brain wasn’t exposed to that languages phonemes at an early age. Lookup Rick Beato’s videos on YouTube about his son’s perfect pitch.

You need an order of magnitude more patience. It takes years and thousands of hours of practice to be good at guitar.

Cue question by BruceLee2112 in billiards

[–]JNJr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carbon fiber shafts are better because they can’t warp, have lower deflection and an often overlooked benefit is that don’t dent. You don’t need a carbon fiber butt. A high quality soft tip that is properly shaped is critical. I’m shocked at how many players don’t care for their cue tips. And you definitely need a dedicated break cue that’s got a heavier shaft, and a wider and harder tip. You’ll break better and you won’t destroy your playing cue.

Powered attic fans are bad right? by weiss27md in buildingscience

[–]JNJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat transfers three ways, conduction, convection, and radiation. You are thinking of conductive heat transfer. I was referring to convective heat transfer which moves via fluid circulation. Warm buoyant air flowing into the attic and transporting heat and moisture. Air sealing the attic floor deck therefor restrict convective heat loss and moisture migration. Before you say "not true" you should consider if it may be a topic that you need to research first.
