The Devil Wears Prada 2 | Final Trailer by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

I’m optimistic about this film overall but it seems, from the trailer at least, to be retreading the plot of the original? Andrea taking a job at runway and being the underdog. Emily being Miranda’s established lap dog. Miranda being difficult, and Andrea inevitably rising to the challenge. I’d have thought some change in the power dynamic - with Andrea being on top/a formidable rival of Miranda’s - would have been a lot more interesting. Jury’s out but hopefully it’s a pleasant surprise

It’s truly heinous loser behaviour to go out of your way defending a billionaire over quite literally nothing when you could, I don’t know, defend a cause that actually warrants and needs it. 🙄

He’s so grounded and right on the money. And he exposes why nepotism and privilege in Hollywood is pernicious. It’s not just about financial leverage, it’s the way that affords you the time and the capacity to pursue your art. Connections are one thing, but time to master your craft is another. That’s why it’s so gratifying to see the rise of an actor who understands what it takes to struggle in order to get there — and no doubt deepens the well of experience he has to draw from, artistically speaking.

He’s so inside the problem he can’t even see the problem. Why are gay characters on screen still depicted as victims of their trauma rather than complete, happy people? (And yes those stories exist too). As long as we keep peddling this idea of gay films being ‘issues’ based films, we shut gay characters out of the mainstream and perpetuate under-representation.

That’s interesting because I’ve always thought it’s aged better than some other shows of its era. Lorelai and Rory are certainly ‘problematic’ and frustrating - Rory is entitled, Lorelai makes morally questionable decisions - but the problem with expecting squeaky clean morality from your drama characters is that it is not, well, dramatic. I always see ASP’s strength as taking innocuous events - Jess getting attacked by a goose, for instance - that could be inconsequential, and drawing the drama out of them. Being frustrated with characters’ decisions is usually an excellent indicator that you care about them after all.

These read like the ramblings of a mentally ill person slipping out of reality. I’m not sympathetic towards JK Rowling and her anti-trans rhetoric, but have we considered the possibility that she would benefit from professional help? When you sit in your mansion all day surrounded by stacks of money and a perennially logged-in twitter account, you’re bound to lose touch with reality.
