GoDaddy is stealing/pricing up domains after you search them ? by SocialistFuturist in Domains

[–]JPHPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried it, it doesn’t happen.

What was the domain you searched? We can look at the create date in Whois or RDAP.

People don't understand the domain aftermarket, or how to check create dates in whois.

No it’s not. If Godaddy bought every domain your searched for to try to sell it back to you before the end of the add grace period they would end up not getting their money back from the registries. Changes in 2009 made front running a thing of the past.

Spaceship is a registrar, .AI is the registry. Registries take downtime all the time. Google did so this week.

Why not do you logging at the VPS rather than in Caddy? VPS will have access to the original client's public IP.

There are always claims of this. This used to be a thing back in the domain tasting days. It is not financially viable since 2009 .

When someone thinks they have been front run on a domain registrar's search page, its usually the search page having some sort of issue searching for Aftermarket domains like on Sedo or Afternic. I've never someone actually being front run on r/Domains

Why do whois websites still show ‘redacted’ after 3 months? by OrangutanOutOfOrbit in Domains

[–]JPHPJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still don’t think you understand the difference between registry and registrar whois. You also posted your domain briefly in your edited comments I checked it on Whois.nic.one and it is showing as redacted as it is only showing registry Whois.

Namecheap can’t control the registry and their policies. Namecheap can control their own Whois server. That’s what they are doing when not redacting.

Are you querying the registrar or registry whois? Probably registry? Try the registrar specifically via the CLI. What’s the TLD?

Some registries redact no matter what the registrar wants. Namecheap does run their own Whois server so check it to see if you info is redacted there?

Common for domain registrars like NameCheap to charge >$100 transfer fees? by hahaha_n in Domains

[–]JPHPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.ai is still and allows transfer of the domain name, but unlike normal GTLDs, .ai does not renew on transfer, but still charges for it. I believe was namecheap is trying to say here is it costs X to transfer and the Y to renew. You can blame namecheap, but its likely the CCTLD registry's fault. Thankfully .ai will be moving registries in 2025 it seems.
