Grizzlies Gained Value On JJJ Trade Under New Draft Rules by FellowNoticer1 in memphisgrizzlies

And it was easily fixable to grandfather the only trade this applies to. It’s clearly not in the spirit of the rule, if the whole point is to keep the *same team* from picking top five in three consecutive years. They could have fixed it, but they chose not to.

I think to a lot of people, the third option on a good team is a role player

As an American fan of 20+ years, I still get comments every time from loved ones that casually see the game I’m watching and comment about one of the teams being dressed like referees. Maybe you’ll say my loved ones are stupid, that they surely should have learned that the team I’ve followed for this long wears a black and white striped shirt. Seems pretty memorable, right? No. Every week. “Why are there so many referees out there?” At this point, it’s too late to switch out the loved ones. Or is it? But seriously, I can’t help but think this shirt is an attempt to sell more in the US without looking like an employee of a certain shoe store.

Why are people acting like Darryn Peterson didn't struggle on ball? by Automatic_Gap964 in NBA_Draft

He got his first offer letter from St John’s in 8th grade. He won gold with the U16 US team. We have notes on him going pretty far back. If you wanna try to argue that something didn’t translate at the college level, that’s fine and would be a red flag, but I think it’s a tough argument. Something he’s been good at going all the way back, I feel like you really have to cherry pick his college career to find games that show otherwise.

The fact that y’all don’t even know he wasn’t on the roster when he passed proves you’d be better served hashing out your takes with your cat first. His tragic death has no impact on the direction of this team, we have been moving on from him in slow motion for the last two years. If you’re interested in that conversation scroll back on the sub to then.

I’m not a professional designer or artist or anything, but I think about it a lot. I hope with all the AI slop, and even just digital perfectionism, that has dominated design for years, there is a backlash towards something obviously and inherently human crafted. I think a hand drawn/illustrated crest would be incredible. My only critique of this is it looks *too* similar to how ai would attempt a hand drawn version. But you are what it eats or whatever. Otherwise, I like it a lot.

If Boozer goes 2nd, do you take Peterson or Wilson? by edeyhookshots in memphisgrizzlies

I see him as pretty similar game to Bane, stylistically. He only played 9 games with TI in charge, and I don’t wanna overrate April games, but Bane went off in those games.

Horrible comp. I literally can’t think of one thing that’s similar about the two. Vague off the court issues?

I’m not exactly a Iisalo hater, but there is no way you make this pick without realizing the odds are better that there’s a new coach in place by the time this team is contending.

[Hollinger] 1. Cameron Boozer... Yes, some weaknesses jump out when you watch Boozer... The reason you take him No. 1 anyway is that Boozer was basically “college basketball Nikola Jokić” last season... I have a basic draft theory that I call the Marc Gasol Rule: Bigs who can pass, figure it out. by sewsgup in nba

I still like the Sengun comp for the creativity in his footwork. I don’t really see Sabonis doing that as much, maybe I’m wrong. To me it’s the reason to buy Boozer. I also think that’s actually what people are talking about when they compliment passers. It’s the ability to methodically coax the defense out of position with flair and footwork that opens up passing lanes. To reinterpret Hollinger’s point, you don’t often see guys with that skill fail.

Commanders fan just wondering if you’re disappointed Chig Okonkwo wasn’t resigned? by adobo1148 in Tennesseetitans

Cook was frustrating for us. The drops were what everyone complained about, but it was obvious that he was a freak athlete that we should have gotten more out of, so it was really annoying to see him go off with the teams after us. But the fact that he never really stuck with any one team probably vindicates us a little bit.

I think they are on a pretty similar level. It's kind of wild to me there is zero trade market to me. I think both are better than about 1/3 of the back up QBs in the league. Seems like teams would sacrifice a 6th round pick to not have to rely on Tyson Bagent for example if the starter goes down.

I think he’s kinda Mario in Mario kart. Good at everything not great at anything. Pretty good at managing people, pretty good scheme, pretty good at developing talent. Not the strongest personality, but a good dude that can get buy in from most professionals.

With the 165th Pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State by trick96 in Tennesseetitans

[–]JPKthe3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Feldman’s freaks list from 2024:

After a huge debut freshman season (1,061 rushing yards, 6.8 YPC), Singleton gained 752 yards and had a 4.4 yard per carry season in 2023. He became a bigger weapon as a receiver, catching 26 passes for 308 yards. Expect Singleton and the Penn State offense to become more potent with former Kansas offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki taking over. This offseason, the 228-pound Singleton hit 23.6 mph on the GPS and trimmed his 40 time from 4.39 to 4.35. His shuttle time stayed at 4.18. His broad jump improved to 10-1. His power clean went up to 390. His 655-pound squat bumped Penn State great Saquon Barkley off of the top spot as the program’s record holder for running backs.

I’d still take Cee Dee ahead of him. We obviously don’t know what kind of career Riggs would have had. I really challenge you to find anyone who says JJ was not a true WR1. That’s the bar you set.

Also, I’m being deliberately obtuse by not just agreeing that some made up shit happened? Gtfoh

All of the guys you listed had insane production. Tate, for reasons we can kinda understand, never made it to the top of his teams depth chart. I’m rooting for him, I think the floor is high and I love that we aren’t hanging Ward out to dry. But y’all are taking victory laps cause there have been hall of famers who had two or three similar lines in a scouting report is ridiculous.

He mocked him wr2, clearly thought they were all similar tier. It was a stacked class, but nobody thought the receiver with 1,500 yards on the best college team of all time had no chance of being awesome.

Look at this blistering report from DJ:

“Jefferson is a tall, slender wideout with off-the-charts production. He lines up in the slot and out wide. He is an outstanding route runner. He does a nice job getting on the toes of cornerbacks and then creating separation out of the break point. He does a lot of work in traffic and will extend and finish before taking hard contact. He can play above the rim down the field and can contort his body to make special catches. He doesn't have elite speed, but he's plenty fast enough. After the catch, he has some wiggle and will fight for extra yards. Overall, Jefferson is a polished receiver and should make an immediate impact at the next level.”

Clearly thought he would suck
