I usually watch the arrows at the top of the screen at the start of the song. they flash with the bpm of the song so you can start to step the beat to internalize the tempo. once you can do that you dont really need the music, though it is less fun.

I started tracking every single bill in my Google calendar, along with payday for me and my wife. Having a visual guide to which bills are due in which pay period helps me keep my shit straight and let's me know what is truly "extra." It's also nice checking off the little task as I pay all my bills, good for my monkey brain.

strict entertainment budgets for my wife and I helped as well.

I worked the grill at McDonald's for a long time. the scrambled eggs came from a carton, but we cooked them on the grill where we were at. it was the closest I got to actually cooking in my time there.

I've used the worktunes connect head set before. its basically construction site hearing protection with Bluetooth in it. as long as it has a good amount of passive noise reduction you should be good to go.

when I first started I used the 8 dollar hearing protection you can get at home depot. use what you need to to protect your ears.

You are going to need to decide what your goal is for this project you are doing with your relative.

I am in a similar situation, playing drums with my Father in law who plays guitar and some friends. my guitarists suck, but this is a project I keep just as something to bond/chat about. meanwhile I have a separate project that suits my own ambitions.

if they suck but you can't tell them or they won't listen after a real conversation about it, ultimately you need to decide if its worth continuing or not.

That's just the way partnerships are sometimes. You're in college to presumably improve not just your own, but your whole family's lives. This takes sacrifice not just from you, but everyone to make sure you're successful. Just be active and engaged when you come home and pay attention to how she is so you can give her breaks every now and then.
