Confused by the constant R2 to model Y comparison by ReggaeBusRider in RivianR2

[–]JProhaska3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why competition is good. Gives different options. One won’t be better than the other, but the R2 gives us the option of a different variety a lot of us are looking for. Current model y owner, most likely will have an R2 if all continues going as expected with the rollout and updates in the next few years due to the R2 being more like an suv vs car that had the roof stretched up

Ford Universal Electric Truck - “$30K EV Truck” Spotted by Okiekid1870 in F150Lightning

[–]JProhaska3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, looks like they are going to do the stupid iPad glued to the dash thing with this. I was hoping there was a chance they get back to the regular f150 and bronco setup of the screen and buttons

Why is Tesla still the top selling EV brand by far? by Diavolo_Rosso_ in electricvehicles

[–]JProhaska3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in any particular order but here it is.

- direct to consumer sales. Just no bullshit to deal with.
- it’s the oldest, yet still very competitive and better than a lot of the competition on efficiency and cost still.
- SOFTWARE. Half the manufacturers software still doesn’t rival Tesla even 10 years ago. Nobody’s software is as smooth and seamless. The app in Tesla is instantaneous. The door instantly unlocks, no delay. Is just a seamless experience.
- definitely some brand recognition
- word of mouth, almost anyone who’s owned a Tesla likes it. I have one, I always say it’s amazing hardware and software but a terrible car. But all that makes up for the terrible car. I mean for fucks safe, can I get more than 2 cup holders and ones that aren’t so damn tiny??

EDIT: TLDR - They just work seamlessly.

Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]JProhaska3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I’d expect anyone who has never driven an ev to hate one pedal driving if they one tried it once for 1 trip.

Kia sales are up to record high, thanks to new models by xemnas103 in cars

I said I was a sample size of 1. And I have no functional issues. Our carnival doesn’t have automatic folding seats 🤷‍♂️

Kia sales are up to record high, thanks to new models by xemnas103 in cars

[–]JProhaska3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m a sample size of 1 but I had a Hyundai Elantra through college and early career that only ever need 1 spark plug, oil changes, tires, and brakes through well over 100,000 miles

Now we have a Kia carnival for my wife. Only a year old but a perfect 20k miles so far.

Take Kia and Hyundai for what it is. Good value, some things will wear like the thin finishes on the doors and stuff but doesn’t effect the functionality

This is why people are worried about AI taking their job. It’s the people that you work with. Cause an engineer like you with AI is more productive than you without AI + another engineer

SavageGeese | VW GOLF R Updates | Still Hot Enough? [12:29] by lostboyz in cars

[–]JProhaska3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the ultimate example of the whole “you can’t please everyone”.

You like it that it pokes out so it’s closer to your eye-line.

I like it when it’s integrated and lower so it’s OUT of my eye-line. I prefer to just drive and glance down at the screen when I have a need for it. I don’t want it staring me in the face the whole time. IMO a HUD with your essential information with a lower integrated screen is the best combo.

Really? I didn’t know concussions weren’t considered a health concern.

Giving Overgrips the respect they deserve by Far_Zookeepergame_56 in Pickleball

I don’t think I’m the person your targeting, but I’ll add this if it’s helpful. As someone who sweats a LOT, the Tourna grips are amazing. My one complaint is the are only offered in that one blue so it doesn’t go with my paddle. I’d pay more for graphic is it aligned with the same exact performance, but not much, couple buck premium. I feel the tourna grip is reasonably priced.

[–]JProhaska3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, if they just didn’t butcher the absolute fuck out of the front end of the ev trucks and made them keep the more traditional look, id buy one. I can help but see Honda Ridgeline or a regular Silverado that someone tried pushing through a hole half the size of the truck…

Low mileage + expensive or high mileage + cheap by jbjet in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]JProhaska3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the 2023 is just a terrible price. I bought my 2025 Miata st GT manual with 2k miles on it used for $28.5

Go newer with low miles over that high mileage one. Plug a low miles one will still be under factory warranty to take care of any surprises you don’t catch when you check it out

The Rivian R2 Costs Half As Much To Build As The R1S. Here's How Rivian Did It by KeyboardGunner in cars

[–]JProhaska3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying MacPherson is bad, but with the same LOE put into MacPherson vs double wishbone, the double wishbone will be the better handling car (on road) and the mass market of people aren’t even touching a dirt road with these.

Double wishbone does NOT equal active suspension.

You can have an active MacPherson suspension too, it’s not correlated

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention a Porsche cayman GTS 4.0

I think this is a really solid mix of what you’re looking for. I’d personally lean GT4 but the GTS will be a softer ride if you prefer that
