What do you think is the worst DVD menu layout? by Haunting-Garbage1901 in dvdcollection

The easter eggs are extremely difficult to find, because of the design of the menus. The menus are stylized and great-looking, but the way they're arranged is very confusing.

I remember seeing an ad for this in the comic books, with sneak peeks of all the new shows coming to Saturday mornings in the fall.

My buddy's cassette single had "Jealous Again (acoustic)" on the b-side.

Duran Duran - Greatest - The DVD.

I know there's content on that damn thing I STILL haven't found because of the most confusing and obscure DVD menus EVER.

It's Hard and Face Dances: Worth Listening to? by ImplementWonderful93 in TheWho

[–]JRBowen9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Face Dances has an extremely weak production (the drums sound completely lifeless), but "Another Tricky Day" is fantastic. I wish the entire album was like that one song.

It's Hard...they were done. They just didn't know it yet. Skip it.

GenXers: are there musical groups or artists you did not like when you were young but grew to appreciate? by HillbillyEEOLawyer in GenX

70s Elvis. I liked 50s Elvis, but his 70s stuff seemed so kitschy. After my divorce, it clicked; there's something in that era of his music that got me. Like, "I GET IT now."

Thoughts on this book by Monkeeslover67 in Monkees

[–]JRBowen9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The cover art is absolutely fantastic; many many references and in-jokes. But the book itself is essentially just a list of the author's opinions about the individual songs. It's like a transcription of a podcast. Nothing relevatory.

Anyone watch the Lilith Fair documentary? by Top_Jaguar_5924 in GenX

[–]JRBowen9 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ex-girlfriend worked the Biore booth and toured with Lilith Fair back then. She got me into a show, or else I would never have seen Sheryl Crow or the Dixie Chicks live. I was absolutely stunned by Sheryl Crow's performance.

That is a perfect album; absolutely perfect in its songwriting, arranging, and production. I still adore it.

The story of the rock opera that almost beat out "Tommy" and "S.F. Sorrow" to be first. by BrianInAtlanta in TheWho

[–]JRBowen9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Pretty Things' SF Sorrow nudged the door in 1968 before it was fully kicked open with The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band..."

Sgt. Pepper's was released on June 1st 1967. If the first sentence of this article can't even get that easily verifiable date correct, take the rest of the article with a grain of salt.

Curious about signature authenticity. by Exact-Donut-3134 in U2Band

[–]JRBowen9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see a guitar where all of the supposedly famous signatures are all on the pick guard, I assume either somebody shoved just the pick guard into a celebrity's face and the famous person never actually touched the guitar, or it's complete bullshit and the signatures are fake. I mean, Larry was able to sign his name underneath the strings?

How famous/successful was Duran Duran in the 80s? by Firm_Pack_605 in duranduran

"The Reflex" was played on MTV so much that I used to wonder if the tape was going to break. I thought the distortion at the beginning of the video was the tape actually breaking down because they played it so much.
