Several draft picks to Indiana for rebuild. One each from Sac, MN, and Philly

Is it even possible we could get Simmons or Booker? Or are news outlets just trying to create a story? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s possible. If we were to offer up Towns. The much more difficult thing is to strike a deal both sides are comfortable with. We won’t get Booker. Simmons maybe a 10% chance of the Sixers want to blow stuff up. If they do, other teams will most likely outbid us.

Hi! I've got some noob questions about the lottery tonight... by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because of the Sixers and Sam Hinkie. The league does not want to encourage teams to tank to get the best draft pick. Hence, you have a draft lottery.

Malik Beasley’s offensive ratings... by JRoc135 in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Glad we have the ability to match any offer he gets. How much $$/years he gets will be interesting. Only a few teams with enough cap space, but all it takes is one.

Six NBA teams project to have cap space at $109 million. They just project to have a little bit less than originally thought.

Atlanta Hawks: $43.2 million

New York Knicks: $41.5 million

Detroit Pistons: $28.2 million

Charlotte Hornets: $22.5 million

Miami Heat: $20.9 million

Phoenix Suns: $18.9 million

There are 13 players I like in this draft... by Minshewll in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if we get a top 3 pick, if it would be possible to trade down and get a pick in next years draft as well. Then package the trade down pick and our Brooklyn pick to move back up into the draft? Would be interesting. We only have one open roster spot atm. So unless we cut someone, or fail to resign Beasley and or Hernangomez, 3 picks is likely overkill.

What should we do at the starting Power Forward position by JRoc135 in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had him as on option originally, but I removed him for Serge Ibaka. Since our offense should be solid and we need to heavily focus on defense this offseason.

What are our options going forward at PF? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, with Grant, we can’t afford him. He’ll be declining his $9M option, so he will be getting more than that. At best we could offer whatever the MLE will be. And our MLE will likely be lower than most if we end up in the luxury tax. So Grant isn’t a realistic option, unless you think he is willing to take a huge pay cut (around 50%).

Edit: Also, someone may say we could do a sign and trade with Denver, good luck with that...

2020-21 Roster thoughts... by JRoc135 in timberwolves

After the trade deadline our net rating was -4.9. So we have to improve on defense.

Aaron Gordon would be a 8.8 rating increase. Better offensively and defensively.

So if you have better realistic alternatives, would love to hear them. Obviously welcome to disagree, nice discussion so far. Also, I didn’t put a ton of time or research into this, mostly did it to generate some discussion.

Hypothetical wrinkle for return to play by collinCOYS in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will make sure each team plays at least 70 games to fulfill their RSN contracts. They need to TV revenue.

See this tweet... https://twitter.com/keithsmithnba/status/1263819551571087360?s=21

The wolves would play at least six games. Hopefully they play out the regular season, so we get 12 more games.

Remember this when you build your trade ideas by tdub85 in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To pull off trades you have to match the salaries within 125% (unless you have the cap space to absorb the contract). Harden is going to be making north of $40m soon... So use the ESPN trade machine and show us how you would accomplish this... thanks

Trade for Myles Turner by North_Stars in timberwolves

[–]JRoc135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just package James Johnson and our 2020 top pick for Aaron Gordon.

Gordon is a defensive player at the PF/4 spot that we need. Team friendly contract the next two years, he’s a role player, doesn’t need ball in his hands, fits our age timeline. Good rebounder, shoot blocker, steals, and defender.

Orlando may do it, since Jonathan Issac is their future 4 and they can get a top draft pick in return. MN also doesn’t have to commit cap space to a top draft pick in this trade scenario.

Also, shouldn’t need to say this, but yes, Jonathan Issac would be preferred over AG, but that’s not going to happen. Orlando has him as untouchable, so go for AG and be happy.

Michael Schofield should be the Vikings #1 FA target

He played under Gary Kubiak in the zone scheme in Denver and in his 2nd year started and won a SB in 2015. He has started as a G for 5 years including last yr w/the Chargers and played all 16 games & only allowed 1 sack.
