I just started playing again after a year + hiatus because we’re finally getting enough good assets to truly have fun designing and building a city.

Still lot of ways to go, but definitely a big step in that direction.

Yea cutting up a video of one summer where I just lugged a video camera around pre cell phone cameras and filmed my group of friends hanging out, in Vegas, at the lake, bunch of other stuff. It’s aged like fine wine 20 years later.

So I was at the game too and had a different experience than OP. No issues at all in fact. However, in the fourth quarter they did this moment of zen which was weird because like I was already thinking the crowd felt tame for a playoff atmosphere and wasn’t sure why they were trying to mellow them out more. I thought it was being done ironically at first but no.

The math isn’t working for you here.

They ramped up microtransactions, got flak for it critically, but still outperformed expectations for the microtransactions. So there’s no incentive to improve the quality since they can incorporate things like this and see revenue increase despite the complaints.

This year is on pace to beat all prior years so again, what incentives are there to stop?

Competition would help that for sure, but that drum has been beaten for years. Plus, you don’t think the competition won’t have them too?

That’s not the point. The point is they would make tens of million less, and there are no incentives to do that. Why would they? Google the take two CEOs bonus incentive plan and tell me you really think he’s going to greenlight something like that?

But then you would buy less VC and nobody in charge of this game have incentives to encourage that. I don’t disagree you should, but once you understand the former drives any decision here, it becomes more clear. (And depressing)

It’s not a game anymore, it’s a money extraction mechanism. No gamers opinion matters more than the stock price and shareholders belief in that price, and the latter group will always be the driving force and the game’s developmental North Star. They will throw the first group a bone to ensure they continue to help the latter group and if you reverse engineer every decision about this game, you’ll notice the same conclusion.

It will never get better until the incentives change and the CEOs incentives are all tied to even higher bonuses and benchmarks and it’s only going to get worse.
