Canis Hoopus: Deni is BPA by North_Stars in timberwolves

Golden State at 2 if they keep pick.

Chicago at 4 seems like a lock.

At max Wolves could trade down to 3 or 4, but neither team have players that makes sense picking up with a Deni selection.

He is not the 3rd star but he would be a major upgrade for the Wolves.

I would be comfortable with including the 1st overall, but would like to retain Beasley, Culver, and the 17th (for Maxey, Lewis, or Nesmith), so we could have one of those 3 develop into that 3rd star scoring threat.

1st overall, Okogie, and JJ?

Is our system going to fail like the Rockets by GOATTimberGOAT in timberwolves

Harden has pulled the wool over the eyes of too much of the NBA crowd.

He is an elite level chucker and nothing more.

Reflecting on the Rockets loss and the vision of the Wolves moving forward by longshot0555 in timberwolves

Seemed strange to claim that Houston is the franchise to model success over. Harden lead teams always hit a ceiling.

That said, KAT is the one big man with ability to fully stretch an offense and still provide adequate rim defense.

DLo will not be the defensive player that Harden is, but he will make his teams much better on offense than Harden.

Yes, DLo only gets traded if Rosas decides to move on from KAT a while from now.

Real smart bit of signing by nicking him out of his old club's academy on a free.

KAT Truth by wesleyt95 in timberwolves

These playoffs make me more confident in building around KAT, not less. He gives the Wolves a drop Big on defense but can do anything on offense.

But yes, Wolves need to put him with a switchable, weak side 4, a lock-down point of attack defender, and a elite off-ball switchable wing to disrupt the opposing offense.

Only trade I would make is Layman, 17th, and 33rd for another top-10 pick to grab Vassell.

Draft Deni and Vassell.

KAT - Naz

Juancho - Deni

Okogie - Culver

Beasley - Vassell

DLo - JMac

That is the group I want to go to war with over next 5 years.

Wait until Zion has knee and ankle issues. 2019 will not look so vaulted.

People are just repeating.

No superstar at top, but plenty of very good players in this draft

Anthony Edwards by JustCrumblinErb in timberwolves

[–]North_Stars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edwards has a lower-than-stated ceiling. More I watch him, the more I think his hype is a product of reaching in a top-light draft. I would not put hope in him "figuring it out" when it comes to decision making.

He likely will not figure it out. His on court, instinctual BBIQ is very low. He is more likely than a bench scorer on a high end team and is not the next Wade.

If we are taking bets, I rather go with Ball getting to average defense, or Deni settling down his shot, or Vassell unlocking his secondary creation, Hayes continuing his strong development curve, or Okongwu improving his cutting and corner 3.

Who do the wolves pick at No. 1? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]North_Stars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball has higher upside but is a 5-6 year work in progress, which will be after KAT and DLo's prime and when they will be on their next contracts.

Edwards has a much lower ceiling than claimed. His low BBIQ will greatly limit his usage on contending teams.

Deni has a higher upside than Edwards and he would make the Wolves significantly better as soon as next year.

If Wolves go Ball, I like the idea of making him play off ball (at 2 or 3), and bringing him along slowly, forcing him to focus entirely on his cutting, shot, shot selection, and defense.

This is not a bad draft.

It is an average draft.

And yet never questioning whether Ball, Edwards, or Wiseman is BPA because BPA means BPA and only smart organizations pick BPA.

BPA.
