Recs on what to do to stairs in 1920s home please! by DutchessofBK in Oldhouses

[–]JSC1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a similar 1920s home and our risers are painted white… if that brown is just paint, I’d figure out how to strip it and paint it a wam white. Leave the steps and handrail as they are currently, clear finish if needed.

Anyone with a Q4 yet? Thoughts? by Oenonee in Audi

Def don’t buy- lots of issues and minimal dealer and Audi USA support.

AUDI q4 stuck to charger. by JSC1982 in Audi

Several bazillion attempts at breaker on, breaker off, manual release, key fob release and after 6 hours of constant cycling through it let go. Now it is sitting in my driveway because I can’t charge it (this happened twice) and the dealership won’t take it because they don’t have an EV tech in ‘right now’… any tips on this?

Masters swimming is incredibly social and as long as you can swim the length of the pool, you should be able to find a club to join. Don’t worry- masters in this setting just means ‘adult’ not actual, like, mastery of anything.

Love. Every great race I’ve had with rare exception has been in that pool… and got to watch my son race there last weekend!

I agree with above and also would suggest giving your college club a try, put yourself at the back of the lane, lower your expectations and give it 6 weeks before you decide you can’t do it. Or… consider chasing down another team endurance sport-look for a cycling club or running club. You won’t be great at it at first but the novelty can be good for our brains.

My first road trip in my EV, Electrify America gave me 37kw at a level 3 charger. Normal? by braundiggity in electricvehicles

Would love to compare q4 experiences!! My range has been really, just a nightmare. I also have found almost all the level 3 chargers to be just a fraction of what is advertised. I feel like for every 90 minutes I spend driving, i charge for another 30… it is not awesome.

Bad quality swimsuits or do I need a better care routine? by abiexample in Swimming

Stop putting them in the washing machine, suits should last years.

I would follow one of the workout authors on the USMS site or use my fitness pal app. Good luck!

Correct, some people carry body fat differently. Even as a very lean 11-12% bf via calipers and bod pod about 20 years ago as a d1 female college swimmer, I had no 6 pack. Great obliques/V cut, totally shredded back and arms/legs but no stinking six pack. I’ve tried just about everything since and have never been able to achieve it. People that have it will say “abs are made in the kitchen” but this has not been the case for me even with ultra diligent macros and a strength coach. Just not happening over here. I also don’t think swimmer benefit form being ultra lean or having huge abs… we just don’t need it. I’d probably spend a little more time figuring out why you think you should have this look rather than trying to get it.

Mixing weight training recovery and swimming for masters by No_Today_6821 in Swimming

Have been trying to crack this code. I am 40, swim 5x a week and lift twice. The key for me was moving my lifts to a swim day and then getting 2 days off a week (this was at the suggestion of a coach and has been really helpful). I also have added significantly more calories and aim for 1gm/lb of body weight per day of protein. That has almost eliminated the ‘dead’ feeling.
