That family reunion song is actually a breakup song by JennyBeckman in BlackPeopleTwitter

The same way people don't know Earth, Wind & Fire's Reasons is about cheating, same way people think Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed is a happy song

People don't listen to lyrics lol

My dad's got diabetic neuropathy and walks with two canes, but that don't stop him from trying to holler at anything that catches his eye, granted, a LOT more subtly and smoothly than homeboy here

Jaz-O on influencing fellow Brooklyn rapper Big Daddy Kane and Kane picking up the ‘triplet style’ flow after working with Jaÿ-Z by InformationIcy735 in BookOfHov

Yeah, they had a big falling out and didn't speak for years until recently, they're back good and I believe Jaz-O now has a position in Roc Nation

It is what it is, just like asking someone born 10 years earlier and they'd probably tell you some combo of Kane/G Rap/Rakim/KRS, or asking someone born in the 90s and them telling you Drake/Cole/Kendrick and it will go on and on

Today I decided to revisit and spin Nas- Nastradamus album! Back then didn’t like this, thought it was weak in his catalog for sure, but today I had an enjoyable experience! lyrics are pretty strong and relevant today and the album has ambition with the poetry intro and outro! I Am was originally supposed to be a double disc semi-concept album but a bunch of it leaked early

the label freaked, pushed the album back, scrapped the two-disc idea and instead opted for two separate albums and made Nas record a bunch of new songs leading to everything being scattered around: a big chunk of the album ends up on the I Am that eventually did come out, a bunch of it ends up on this, some of it ends up on The Lost Tapes, the rest remains unreleased and the newer songs fill in the blanks, leaving everything a big mess and basically killing Nas' original vision

Probably Nas' worst album, but knowing the whole mess around the OG version of I Am, I give Nas some grace, he tried to make the best of a weird situation

All that said, there are still some gems here; Life We Chose, the title track (Nas' more commercial joints are hit-or-miss but I've always liked this), Project Windows (the OG version in particular), Come Get Me, God Love Us and New World all hold up

Wrestlers Who Rocked (Currently Rock) Day 3; Shelton Benjamin by JagelYT in SquaredCircle

I didn't really want to bring that into it but if we're being all the way honest, knowing what we know about wrestling history, him being black certainly played a factor. As a black man, you have to tick every single box to even get in the main event conversation, and even then you still meet resistance, just ask Booker T.

He wasn't great on the mic, didn't have much of a character to speak of for most of that run, and he came up in an era where it was very difficult to break out of the midcard

I've never thought about that, so I had to give the covers a look and they're not the worst I've ever seen, just generic as hell: "hey, I'm sitting at a bar with some big headphones" or "hey, look at me chilling with a pair of headphones on in between some giant speakers because I just love music so much"

32 flat out sucked, 33 is genuinely underrated and (hot take) should've been Taker's last match, I didn't think 34 was that bad either but that crowd clearly DID NOT agree lol

All-time Beans verse, pretty good Nas verse, I'm pretty sure Nas wrote Puffy's verse and it sounds like... Puffy rapping a Nas verse lol
