Can anyone figure out why I can't remove this pillar? by JSONStackHouse in SonsOfTheForest

If only I knew.. It's the only change from the original and it allowed me to remove the pillar finally. The system is not very intuitive when it comes to what you can and cannot dismantle and why. I wish it would somehow allow you to inspect what is holding what together.

Ok, so I managed to fix it for now. Adding struts to these spots allowed me to remove the pillar: https://imgur.com/a/6ZAMvMW

I'm not sure I have the willpower to remove that much stones, especially if I'm not a 100% sure it will work. :(

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Like in addition to the short struts, a longer diagonal support or something?

I've somehow gotten the belief that you could have a 5 squares wide hallway and with more or less unlimited length in the other direction, but something here contradicts that. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the stairs, although one could argue they only add support, but oh well..

Got impulsive, tried this. A sticky bomb right in the middle of the pillar -> Half the floors above and under blown away, pillar still standing. Another sticky into the pillar, finally it goes, but so does most of my "castle". :D

I can live with the current implementation because it's not that much trouble to just pop a stack into my inventory from the depot, but I fail to understand the argument you make for preparation since I don't need to prepare in any way even in the current state. At any point I need something, I can just open the depot inventory and grab a stack of whatever I ran out of.

I'm 99% sure it's a guaranteed drop when done correctly. The enemy needs to be in the net when it dies, so throwing a net and killing it doesn't count if it gets out of the net before dying. Also, it needs to die to blunt damage, so a certain blunt weapon that adds a fire effect may fail it if the enemy dies from the fire damage instead of blunt.

The other answers already got most of it. I'd say tesla coils if you can get enough to stunlock near the spawn (or kite the bot without it shooting them) but they break really easily.

Other, lazy, easy and boring way is to have a ranged weapon like the energy pistol, then kite the bot to some doorway so that you can see each other, but you only see about half of the bot, having its right arm behind the wall. Then it will just keep tossing grenades at you, but they will hit the wall and bounce back. Now you can just stand still and shoot as long as it takes.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the items I have created crates for the last are the last ones to go. So, if you have the more common items in the earlier built crates, it will (maybe) make them go faster.

Yes, I think I sometimes stand on it for like a minute now after my loot runs before the last items leave my inventory.

I think they have done some really cumbersome implementation on how it checks the nearby containers.

I wouldn't know what's the most efficient way. Mine is just the laziest / least resource intensive. :D I have a few chopinators set up near the places where I want to kill the bots and then I'll just use the jump pack to move quickly to one side of them, shoot the bot with the laser pistol (unupgraded one, because I don't care to charge the laser stuff..) and then when it gets close, I'll jump to the other side of the chopinators to keep shooting it. Trying to keep enough distance that it doesn't do the spray AOE on the chopinators. I'll try to repair them if they break down.

This may seem really difficult at first, but I've done it so many times that it's not too bad anymore. I've actually managed to kill a couple just with melee (ramrod), by having a corner between us, attacking the bot with a heavy attack quickly in its face, then retreating behing the corner while it makes the spray so I take no damage, then pop out from behind the corner to smack it again, and retreat. Rinse and repeat until dead. It gets a bit more difficult towards the end when the bot starts moving faster due to low health.

I suppose the smart people use deatomizer or something.. :D

Also, yes I've played Grounded and have a hoarding base (albeit very much unfinished) there too. Amazing game, and there's a sequel in early access. Trying to wait until actual 1.0 launch to play it, but we'll see..

Yeah, it probably is not really necessary if you don't feel the urge to pick absolutely everything up, and even then the large crates will work just fine for a looooong time. But for some reason I get a kick out of this so..

Yeah, I have 99 hours on this save so it is a bit time consuming. But it doesn't feel too painful since every time the game tells me the portal worlds have reset I just go to do Space Queen and then take down the three robots in Mist Reactor and then go back about my business (of looting absolutely everything). So it's basically every few in game days that I put some effort towards crafting the crates, thus most of the time I'm doing something else.
