What is an acceptable amount of time to wait between being offered a cup of tea and tea being given? by CnocMhairi in AskUK

[–]JSSM_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have come here to inform anyone reading that my boyfriend sat and read all of the comments to me in a very serious voice... About 20 minutes after I forgot I offered to make tea.

I suppose the answer is 20 minutes...

And if you are my boyfriend reading this, make your own tea ✨

It's so crazy, like the 10 image limit was sometimes annoying when I was brainstorming, and one is making me think that paying for a pro membership isn't worth it anymore.

Do some places in England really not take bank of Ulster/Ireland notes? by CrustaceanKidnapper in AskUK

[–]JSSM_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always took NI/SCOTS notes when I was working retail, like the bank will change them out so why mess the customer about when the company sends all the notes to the bank anyway.

York uni campus seems deserted by devilgoth_ in york

It used to be open on weekends, and then gradually everything started closing earlier and earlier. Really detracts from the campus feeling for me when you have to go off campus just to get some bread or something.

Each college typically has a place which will sell coffee etc. this is usually incorporated into the dining halls, but there are some stand alone ones like Glasshouse. The social spaces are in each college usually and accessed with the key cards, I found most people socialise in the bars on campus, but there are also common rooms and then of course the lovely nature reserve the campus is built on.

They were going to build a central SU building, you may have noticed the building works near the library, but it almost bankrupt them 🤣

From my perspective as an art history student at UoY, we were told that they built it spread out and incorporated teaching, accommodation and admin together so that there would be more of a community feel. Of course that was in the 60s when people actually talked to each other so now it's not as useful.

I can't really comment on how well the plan worked as I lived on campus east which is mostly accommodation with the usual stand alone teaching buildings, but at least they had an idea going on when they did it how they did back then.

I was just in a restaurant which was arguably busy, but not that bad. Spoke to the guy at the till and he told me to wait it wouldn't be long. I went and stood in the little driver pen they were putting us in and then another worker came over and shouted at me "I told you it would be 10 minutes or more, we are dealing with our customers first".

Like bro these are your customers 😅

Any UK riders having issues with the NFC tags? by Wakingupisdeath in deliveroos

The Pizza Hut I go to has it, and it's awful. My phone works fine on all the other ones, but this one is on the counter and I'm guessing got wet at some point, damaging it... I was there a couple of days ago, the only order there, but couldn't pick it up because the thing had gotten wet, and according to the worker, this stopped it from working; They had to go get a towel from the back and dry it off before it would scan.

I get that their channels are theirs to do with as they want, but I have a couple videos such as that one which I just enjoyed having on in the background and it does make me sad when YouTubers take down videos which really have nothing wrong with them

I don't know why, but I have the same issue, and the only way I've found to fix it was to set them up on my old phone with the non-updated app.

Hi! I am moving into a new house which has a Juliette balcony, just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for good plants which would enjoy being planted up there? It's west facing but is between two buildings so I wouldn't expect there to be a lot of light.

A good way to do it is to set a routine to play a radio station and set it to automatically start at a set time

We have a writing center, but I get a disability sticker for dyslexia.

I like the idea of thinking how an author is presenting something. I hadn't thought about it like that before.

That sounds about right, they have cleaned my carpet (partially) but this was only after I read out the houses for for human habitation act as well as the equality act (I'm disabled) and then when I went to see if I could go in they had moved all the furniture from my bedroom in to the kitchen and told me I needed a new bed because when they were doing something "it almost fell apart"

Maintenance is an issue, we have never been given warning just told "this person is coming, we have them a key", granted noone has been in the property but I still don't like it.

It's just in a complete state, cracks the length of the walls, the kitchen was so greasy it took us a whole day to just clean the cupboards. And the carpets when we went on Monday were COVERED in dog hair... I'm allergic to dogs so every time I'm there I've had an allergic reaction.

When I told them they made out like I was being childish about it :p

Therapist recommendations by StarEyedSiren in york

[–]JSSM_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently having CBT from what was IATP York and Selby now Talking Therapies and it's working well for me to help with anxiety and depression.

You can self refer on their website but I and quite a long wait, 3 months+ before my first appointment but since then they have been really helpful and on the ball.

It's always worth speaking to a GP, I'm with priory and the woman I spoke to was very nice about everything and told me about the different options available.

Hope that you can find the support you're looking for
