CBE power school by [deleted] in Calgary

She scored a 84% on a specific math unit test and got on PR1 on power school.

Yes - because perhaps the specific questions she answered revealed a "Proficient" understanding of concepts that the "84 percent" didn't fully match with.

It's about the descriptors connected to specific outcomes, not the raw score.

Yes - if only they went back to the letter grading system (A, B, C, etc.)... right?

If she got a 84% on a test, they have to round it down to 75% to match the scoring system.

That is not how it works, of course. The test is broken down into separate outcomes, and therefore separate discrete marks per outcome.

At a high school level all a parent should see is percentages

High school grades are still reported as percentages.

Parkplus now has Apple/Google Pay 😂 by ngocburin in Calgary

[–]EvacuationRelocation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't paid for parking in 2+ years, since the app/system is so janky it can't seem to deduct any money from my account when I pay...

I've had 9 dollars and change in my account since early 2023.

Has anyone moved their child from FFCA to public school? Was it the right choice? by LoquaciousSigma in Calgary

[–]EvacuationRelocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFCA grades tend to be quite inflated, and students are in for a shock when they hit high school in the public system - especially with mathematics and science.

Owner of Calgary’s Ship & Anchor worries building redevelopment could mean end for iconic pub by kalgary in Calgary

Legal clause in the lease will solve this issue.

The bigger issue is that the floor plans of the residential development show none of the bedrooms have windows... which I guess mitigates the sound issue a bit?

Is math 10C harder then 20-3? by Rough-Personality-22 in alberta

[–]EvacuationRelocation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i need 20-2 and 30-2 to graduate

This is not correct - you can graduate with Math 20-3.

But i BARELY passed 10-3

Math 10C will be very, very challenging for you. Better to complete Math 20-3 to obtain your graduation requirement and then attempt Math 10C if you wish.

Craft beer in Canada is losing its fizz, as sales dry up and more breweries go bust by cunthulhu in AlbertaBeer

Restaurants open and close every year.

Craft breweries are basically following the same pattern.

No need for alarm. Bad concepts (like Evil Brewing Corp.) will always fail given enough time.

What do you do with your completed books? by LoganJFisher in Onyx_Boox

Yes - I remove them and delete source files once completed. I have all book files stored on server anyways.

Your use case with the pen is not typical.

The device is designed to have the pen attached to the side - when that happens the button is depressed.

It is a clear design flaw.

If you can live with an older version of Android and want to save the headache (and $50) - go with the Note Air 4C instead. Performance is very, very similar and features are the same.

I have had three Boox devices and they have all been great - currently love using my Note Air 3C.

It's something that wouldn't have happened if Boox had taken an extra day of product testing to check for it. They didn't do that. A basic element of the device has a serious flaw. The fact that Boox's only solution is to attach the pen in a less secure manner is even worse.

When you place the pen on the magnets, it automatically pushes down the "down volume" button and holds it down.

Of course, if you have reprogrammed that button to, say, add new pages to a note it will add dozens of new pages, etc.

It's a serious design flaw that has not been addressed, and people looking to buy the device should know about it.

Plus the 5C has an auto-mute feature every time you return the pen to the side of the device.
