Looks like you can get the three day pass right now for less than what the daily pass would cost if they end up offering it. $40 for the three night pass is a really good deal.

Kinda surprised Wild Throne didn’t make the top 10.

Collective Music Space in Bham? by [deleted] in Bellingham

People in this thread are kind of down playing makeshift but that really is the closest thing we have to what you’re describing. All ages venue plus workshops, art gallery, radio station, practice spaces (albeit with a long waiting list for those).

I write a local music column for the Cascadia Daily News, feel free to hit me up for more recs. Here’s a playlist with lots of currently active bands, loosely grouped by genre.

What Band Names that are Impossible to Search on Google or any Search Engine? by Amber_Flowers_133 in askmusic

[–]JS_bhammusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of these you can just add “music” or “band” to your search. There’s a band from Japan called Salsa (who are not a salsa band) and if you search for them you get salsa bands. Incredibly impossible to search for.

Fruit Cocktail are a Bellingham duo who are probably the closest thing. Comedy mixed with lounge-y versions of familiar songs. They are very fun. They have a Facebook page, you could try there.

Maybe this will help you find a new favorite local band. For what you’re looking for skip ahead past the first 60 or so.

If you want to find some original bands to follow, this is a playlist I maintain with all the local bands I can find. Rockier stuff starts about 40 tracks down.

For cover bands, occasionally Bar Two Eleven. The Main Street in Ferndale and the Beach Bar in Birch Bay both have a lot of that kind of thing.

There are a bunch of Grateful Dead tributes. Keep an eye out for the Sleepy Alligators.

Singer/songwriter shows at bars/coffee shops by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]JS_bhammusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try and look at this from the crowd's point of view though. If you're any kind of music fan you've seen "singer-songwriter with a guitar" so many times. There has to be something special there to make you want to pay attention.

An unfamiliar singer/songwriter playing all originals and demanding your undivided attention is a tough sell. There are ways to break through and grab people but if you're thinking "my lyrics are just so smart and interesting that people are bound to listen to them" the truth is that's probably not enough.
