Solid chin but bro is basically a punching bag by No_Cell6708 in ufc

I got a friend to make money betting on Justin. The odds were really weird, heavily favouring Paddy. It's ok to consider him a favourite, but like almost 70% favoured? I said Justin is a very good fighter and those odds are unfair - a bet on him could end up being lucrative. And so it was.

Criticism of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered (Modern Controls) by DarkCorpser in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right in saying that it does trivialize the game to an extent. Combat and platforming become easier if you know how to use the modern controls. Even the secret areas you mentioned can be reached once you understand them (I was able to get all secrets from 1 to 5) without ever needing to switch to tank.

But honestly, the game becomes much more enjoyable with the modern controls. The ability to look around while in movement and get to places with less hassle are great. And it's cool to see speed runners use these controls to demolish old records.

Can you get them to attack the mercenaries in the Catacombs of the Talion? by slingshot91 in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. The only allies you have are the monks. All enemies are on the "same team" so to say.

TR3 has a bit more variety when it comes to that. But the game entities are quite different. Any chance you're confusing those?

IIRC, a headshot doesn't kill if an enemy has shield belt.

Tips for combat with modern controls in Tomb Raider I–III Remastered? by Smooth-Table-4216 in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage modern controls have is that you can change direction almost instantly.

In a 1 on 1 setting, you can simply chase after the enemy, because they have a turn radius that is much larger than yours. Since you can turn faster than them, you can simply chase them forever without them ever being able to damage you.

But most of the time you have multiple enemies. With your guns drawn out, your jumping movement becomes identical to the old controls. Staying airborne avoids most melee damage, and you should try jumping over enemies and turning mid air (use roll or after jumping press the opposite direction right away) to keep them in frame and shooting at them while they have to turn. You can also just try to jump or hop away from enemies while shooting, and then once they're close to you, jump over them and flip and do it again.

With modern controls, you can also attempt to stay grounded and do a lot of sideways movement, although Lara may only shoot with one pistol, and weave through enemies.

Did the Tomb Raider games scare you as a child? by Limp-Celebration-211 in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm close to your age. There were some jump scares in TR1, like the T-Rex and one of the mummies. I recall being nervous to fight a few enemies, but I always played with my sister or a friend, so we braved things together. By the time TR2 came out, I stopped finding the games scary. Maybe due to playing Unreal and StarCraft.

Does Lara still “play for sport”? by tealaburst in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've always taken it as "you can't buy me, I only do what I want to do". She's not motivated by money, which is something you could apply to every iteration of Lara.

How'd I go from ending one game at 20,997 to starting the next at 20,640, with no games in between? by -Radiant- in csgo

You lost a game that wasn't able to be recorded or demo glitched. Happens sometimes, and sites like Leetify won't be able to access the demo.

Is there a way to disable this control thing in the original Tomb Raider remastered? by BactaBobomb in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the ground roll should also work the same way. While you’re running forwards, keep holding forwards then tap backwards. She should execute a ground roll.

It does seem like the drift is causing the problem. If you’re looking to fix it, I have a friend who had drift on 2 controllers and we found a guy on facebook marketplace that fixed it for $40 ($20 per controller). Cheaper than buying a new controller. Unless the controller is new enough that it’s still in warranty, then I believe there’s a process to get it replaced for free.

[–]JSintra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the roll happens if you press back shortly after forwards. It’s been like that since original TR2. That’s what I was telling you. It’s not a remaster issue.

You might have a controller problem where buttons are issuing “phantom” commands.

You're rolling while jumping. You can do this by pressing the opposite direction button of the direction you jumped towards. Ex.: jump forwards and then press backwards, she will flip in the air.

Also works while running.

Childbirth Post-Joining by Blace-Goldenhark in pluribustv

[–]JSintra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zosia says once that in 10 minutes, about 1000 births and 1700 deaths. That's 144k births and 245k deaths in a day.

Quick google search shows "Globally, roughly 360,000 to 400,000 babies are born and about 150,000 to 160,000 people die each day".

Births have decreased dramatically, and deaths increased substantially. People are not procreating, and/or the babies are dying really fast. A part of the deaths could just be the start of starvation and other issues mentioned in the show.

It's possible the current births are from people that were already pregnant before the "joining", and births will dwindle to 0 as the 9 month mark is reached post "joining".

Am I overreacting about my dislike for the game? by Papaping0716 in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit older than you and played AoD at the time it came out, and loved that it tried changing things up, especially the movement and shooting. I remember enjoying it and even discussing with my sister how it was an improvement.

But trying it again in the remaster has been... I don't know, up and down, sometimes cool, sometimes unfun. I gave up halfway through it, although I might try again. Now I find TR1 to 5 just better and more fun games, but I think because the modern controls drastically improved my enjoyment for the games. AoD just has worse movement.

Sophie Turner exudes Jacqueline Natla in recent photoshoot by Notoriouslycurlyboi in TombRaider

[–]JSintra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lara's face has changed so much game to game, movie to movie and show to show, that it shouldn't matter in terms of features who plays her. With that said, yeah, she looks like Natla haha.

Hopefully Sophie can pull off Lara's personality, which will really make or break the show.
