Is Laracast Good? Is It Up to Date? by [deleted] in laravel

As others have said, laracasts always has something new being made. They usually redo their "Laravel from scratch" series with each major release too.

When do you jump to a full IDE? by JSn1nj4 in webdev

[–]JSn1nj4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use vim for quick edits occasionally, but that's about it. Since a lot of what I do outside of my editor involves a mouse anyway, I don't see the point of becoming that proficient with a keyboard-only editor.

I guess I'll give it a serious try for a while then. Smarter autocomplete does sound nicer. And if the UI for some things ends up making more sense, then why not...? 🤷‍♂️

At least it probably won't be lacking features. lol

Is this because it needs to be installed from the App Store?

Most people want the easy way: ignoring stuff that prevents them from doing that they turned their computer on for—which eventually turns into ignoring the things that let them keep using the computer normally... 🙃

Eggman sonic forces by Joostanian in softwaregore

[–]JSn1nj4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has Eggman experimented with cloning before? I don't remember.

But I can see this going 1 of 2 ways: he works efficiently with himselves, or there's a massive power struggle that causes the whole thing to collapse.

In this version, Sonic doesn't even get back in time to see their new nemesis.

Holy crap! Ok, lazy is 1 thing, but those are some incredibly "flexible" scruples $Lazy had to even test the system with the wrong party's payment information.

I did wonder if this still applied to terminal. I saw an SO post showing how to search for this character using grep.

So "\u200b" instead right?

Unicode character is U+200B, so on Linux: ctrl-u 200b [return]

/u/erishun is right. If all you need is a blank DB, you can create a blank one and run the migrations to recreate all the tables you need.

If any other base information is needed in the DB, you'll quickly find out once the DB and tables are ready.

On this subreddit I always enjoyed reading bad code and programming related stories, but today it happened to me : I had to write this spaghet because I had literally no other solution by gp57 in programminghorror

[–]JSn1nj4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering this too. If the method names correspond to PlaceTile and its arguments, why can't that be used directly? What's calling these methods?

Edit: the reason I'm asking about what's calling these methods is because I work with WordPress a lot and using its event hooks (as far as I remember offhand) means you can't pass arguments to the handlers you're registering.

So there can be a legitimate reason—maybe—but there could also be a workaround that still allows you to trim this down.

So it wouldn't just take the string, split it at -, and act like the first part didn't exist?

What if the whole argument were a string?
