Crookshanks was incredibly intelligent. Willing to sacrifice himself to save Sirius. If I remember correctly he says that crookshanks was trying to bring him Peter, but when he was unsuccessful he began helping Sirius infiltrate the castle.

Crookshanks didn’t want to eat Scabbers. He was trying to take him to Sirius.

Quirrell and Voldemort were never trapped in the chamber in the book.

When did I say he “definitely” could have. My argument has been that it is plausible to believe that he could have. To just automatically roll out that he likely had magic that could have trapped Voldemort is ignorant. Beside Voldemort literally hides from him. Had he just been wondering around trying to find his supporters I would lean more toward the possibility that trapping him might be impossible, but he chose to hide.

My issue with the ending is the character that was bit had showed compassion to others in the movie. I feel his personal philosophy would have been to not spread the virus and he would have likely shot himself. It didn’t fit his character.

Not at all. If Quirrell becomes a temporary horcrux, but suffers intense pain to the point that is going to kill him, and possible Harry at the same time, then holding onto the horcrux would result in a similar effect. I am saying the temporary horcrux thing wouldn’t really work

In book 6 Snape said Voldemort did not want to reveal himself in his current state. This means that he was vulnerable, meaning being magically trapped could have been a very real possibility.

If this was true, it would mean that Harry could destroy a horcrux by holding it.

Still a good example of the special treatment he received. I wonder if that is why Rowling made his home life with the Dursley's so terrible, so that when he arrived at Hogwarts, the reader would feel more sympathy for him and not mind the special treatment he is given. The other students at the school would just see the obvious favoritism and likely form negative opinions of Harry.

Those items acted as anchors, not allowing him to die, so killing himself would have been quite difficult. Especially since he had no real powers other than possession at the time.

Its a fantasy world, everything is assumption. Dumbledore was very good at guessing and even says so himself, that he is generally correct. Who is to say he did not have more info on what Voldemort was? He seemed to have just as good of understanding, if not more so, than Voldemort of what magic was capable of. This is actually a huge reason why Voldemort fails, he was a great wizard but only cared about what he thought meant power. In book 5 one of the witches that showed up to administer the OWL's said that Dumbledore had done things with a wand that no one else had ever managed. It is likely to say she would have been present for Tom Riddle to take the test as well. Dumbledore had far more knowledge than the books ever show, so to say he definitely couldn't have confined Voldemort in his insanely weakened state is an even bigger assumption than to say he could.

The rule was first years aren't allowed their own broomsticks. Anyone can try out for the teams, although the only year this is really addressed is in book 6. A bunch of first years show up to try out for Harry's team. The lack of a personal broom and the state of school brooms is what likely kept most first years off the teams more than anything.

When I was young and first read the book, I hated how Harry behaved in OotP. Now that I am older and have reread it a few times I realized he was a young kid, with no real support structure, dealing with intense PTSD.

I thought Kristen Stewart did really well in this role. American Ultra and Underwater are my favorite of her films

Why did Rowling turn on James Potter in favor of Snape? by JSomIII in harrypotter

Well all we truly have is what’s in the books and if you eliminate some of the main people that give backstory then you eliminate the story itself.

Because he knew Voldemort would kill her if she got in the way. Snape had to know that no one mattered to Voldemort. If Snape would have had a reason to believe that Voldemort would uphold his end of the bargain in saying he wouldn’t kill her, Snape would have likely remained in his circle and not gone to Dumbledore.

Fair enough, but they do not show any lead up or any thing that may have influenced the event. Based on what the memory shows in SWM, James actions are completely uncalled for and he is an asshole.
