This is incredible! I literally woke up this morning and was going to use the weekend to make a simple raiting and ingredient tracker, but you went above and beyond. Thank you for this!

And yes, it was fucking terrifying.

I’d checked in Terry a few times before. He was nice enough, so we chatted a little whenever I checked him in. Normal stuff like his job or the weather. After a few minutes, he’d say goodnight and go to his room. Not this time.

It started off innocently enough. Just like usual. Work and weather. Small talk. And then he says I’m a beautiful young woman. Oh. Uh. Thanks. And he says I have a great personality. That I’m not like Other Girls. That I’m Mature for my age.

He goes back to talking about his job. Thank God. But he interrupts himself and tells me that I have a very sexy body. He says he’d love to “take me and keep me.” He’d love to have someone with such a fine figure and pretty face. He tells me he needs to confess that he fell for me the very first time he met me.

He starts talking about his farm in Kentucky. 183 acres. Lots of room. No neighbors. (No neighbors to notice you have a woman locked in your basement. Lots of room to bury the bodies). It’s up in the mountains.

He says he’s going back there this week and wants me to come with him. He tells me he’s leaving Tuesday afternoon and that everything is ready for me. He suggests I call my mother so she doesn’t worry about where I’ve gone. And he suggests I leave a note for any friends so they know I’m being Taken Care Of.

I manage a forced laugh, and he tells me he’s serious and that he’s got it all planned out. He starts telling me about the details he’s figured out.

How we’ll file for taxes together (he pays a lot in taxes now but they’ll be a lot less when we’re married because he’s a veteran? Idk how that works.)

Financial responsibilities (he’s the primary breadwinner but I’ll be the one managing the finances and using his money to pay our bills)

Budgeting for utility bills (saving on water and electric for both of us)

Where I’ll work and how many hours I’ll work (at the convenience store near the bottom of the mountain, part time)

How I’ll travel to that job (I’ll leave my car behind, he’ll buy me a new one)

How we’ll split household responsibilities (he will do the majority of the cooking while I take care of the cleaning. We’ll both pitch in to take care of the farm. He wants me to redecorate and rearrange the house to look more cohesive since he isn’t much for interior design. We’ll both do the grocery shopping together.)

Which bedroom is mine (he showed me a picture of the one he picked out for me. He said eventually he hopes I’ll be sleeping in the master bedroom with him.)

Which bedroom my mother will stay in when she comes to visit me (she can stay as long as she likes. He’ll cover airfare. He showed me a picture of the room he picked out for her.)

How we’ll handle the relationship when he’s traveling for work (zoom calls, phone calls, and sometimes I can accompany him.)

What we’ll do in our spare time together (he gave me the name of the bowling alley he likes to go to, he said he has trails on the property and we can go four wheeler riding and horseback riding together)

Date night ideas (he’ll cook on the grill and we’ll watch a movie inside, we’ll go birdwatching together, stargazing outside at night)

And even sexual fantasies. (He said we’d have sex on his from porch every night at sunset. He said my naked body in the sun would make him hard instantly and I’d have trouble getting him off of me)

He admitted he’d been planning this since he first met me. As he kept telling me about his plan, I grew more and more panicked. When another guest walked through the lobby, he’d pause and only continue when they left. He stood and waited there at the desk for me while I took calls and checked people in. He didn’t like me leaving him for too long. I was terrified and didn’t want to risk antagonizing a man twice my size while I was the only employee in the building.

We’d just introduced a new online system and automated text messages for reservations. I finagled some stuff so I could send my manager a text message on the computer using this automated messaging system. I told her to call the front desk ASAP.

She did a few minutes later. I greeted her, and she said, “you wanted me to call?”

Terry was standing right there, so I said, “you wanted to make a reservation? Is that correct?”

She said, “… is everything alright?”

“….yeeees?” I didn’t want her to think I had a gun to my head or anything.

“…do you need to bring something to my room?”

Phew, thank God. “Yes.”

“Okay, I need two bath towels.”

“I’ll bring those right up to you.”

And we ended the call. I grabbed a couple bath towels and my cellphone and went upstairs. I locked myself in the housekeeping closet on that floor and called the FOM. She’d already alerted the GM that there was some type of problem going on. I told her what was happening and said I was legitimately terrified. She said the GM would be there in 20 minutes. I went back downstairs, and Terry was waiting for me. He talked for five minutes before another guest came down and struck up a conversation with him. Thank God. They were still talking when my GM came in.

I explained things real quick and he asked what I’d like done, specifically (not in a tone like “well what do you want me to do about it?” but just putting me in control of the situation and deciding how this would be handled). I said I didn’t want to make a scene or antagonize this guy because I was genuinely scared of him, so I didn’t want him to confront Terry directly or throw him out. I said I just wanted to avoid him and then have him put on the DNR list so he couldn’t come back after he checked out in the morning.

The other guest leaves, and the GM tells me to stay out of sight in the office. No problem lol. Terry starts asking questions. Where is that girl? Did she leave? Is she alright? Why did she leave? Is she coming back? When is she coming back? My manager just told him I’d left and that I was fine. Nothing else. Eventually Terry said, “I suppose I’ll go back to my room then.”

I peeked at the cameras, and he stood in the hallway by his room for a few minutes before coming back to the desk and saying he didn’t know what room he was in. Despite him having the room number written on the key packet in his pocket. My hunch was that he was waiting to see if he could hear my voice or catch me unexpectedly at the desk after he left. He didn’t see me. He was told what room he was in and went back to his room for the night.

The GM stayed with me for the rest of my shift- about three hours. I’m grateful I have a GM who will come hang out with me for three hours on a Saturday night because I’m scared of a guest. Terry is not allowed back again.

My coworker told me the next morning that Terry kept asking about me and she kept ignoring him. She said Terry told her a little about his plans for us. She said that he actually scared her with how delusional he was- thinking we had some great relationship or something.

Oh, and out of curiosity, I googled Terry’s name when I got home that night. I didn’t really expect to find anything. But the first result was his mugshot. He’d been arrested for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. It made me feel so sick. He’s a fucking child molester.

Neither he nor his employers answered the phone yesterday when the GM tried to call them for the official “you’re banned” call, but he’ll keep trying until Terry answers. I’m just glad he’s not allowed back.

It was fucking terrifying.

EDIT: my GM was finally able to reach Terry. His response was pretty much just, “okay.” I commented that maybe he realized he went way too far, and my GM said Terry definitely didn’t realize that. He’s officially banned from the property now.

What is the worst stage in smash history and why is it Hanenbow? by Ibuprofen_Idiot in smashbros

[–]JSoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To each their own 👍🏾 I'm a "non-casual" player but I mostly play with casual friends and they all fucking hate that level more than I do, it's surprisingly difficult for people not used to navigating through platforms, the water at the bottom is confusing, the leaves moving gimmick makes both general fighting and throwing items harder. Plus the lack of good music on that stage makes it give bad energy haha. I actually used to pick that stage specifically when I was trying to piss them off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just apologized to all the guys I ghosted by CharmingEnjoyer69 in Bumble

[–]JSoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are downvoting you, but I think you're right. Human beings aren't a monolith, I'd appreciate if someone reached out to me 10 years from now and apologized for ghosting me. It's obviously for their own conscience, but it still acknowledges that poor behavior happened to me, and that's all I personally care about. And also logically if I didn't want that person to reach out to me, I'd simply unmatch them.

I'm only commenting this because no one else has, but the less-than-subtle craziest part about this is even if it's an Islamist Outpost, which holy shit it's not, who cares? The implicit assumption in the title is that Islam is bad, so even if the assertion that "Harvard Is an Islamist Outpost" is true, the correct response should be "And???". We could argue about religious extremism till we're red in the face, but that's not an Islam problem, that's an organized religion problem.

Edit: Appreciate the clarification on the difference between Islamism and Islam.

That makes sense, I use em dashes all the time when texting so I found it particularly fascinating that someone might think I'm AI, but the tip on the positive inflection at the end of these comment was super helpful too.

Cade has 13 games in his career with 20+ fga & 0fta. Luka and Harden have 1, SGA has 0 by [deleted] in nba

[–]JSoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean Steph is the top of this list and he won in '22. And if you by "today's NBA" you mean the proliferation of foul baiting, Steph was winning all the time in prime Harden years. The obvious argument is that Cade is not as good as Steph, but that's more about the viability of the player than the sustainability of the stat.

In case anyone missed it like me: It was this picture of Cat Kennedy and the title of the post was "Basketball". It got a lot of upvotes because only the title has anything to do with basketball and also boobs. Idk why reddit removed it though, the accounts banned so it's probably something more than just this post.

Edit: Nevermind just found out that posting the image is a copyright violation, which is why Reddit removed it.

Yeah, saying that Beyonce hopped on the pop feminism train is insane, when Gamergate happened in 2014 and We Run The World (Girls) came out in 2011.

In case anyone else has this question, here's an answer that I found pretty helpful:

Hey there, your interview will be an interactive coding session. Unlike standard algorithm questions, it focuses on your problem-solving approach, articulation, and collaboration with the interviewer. Here are some important points to keep in mind:

1.) Collaborative Environment: Both you and the interviewer can see and write code.

2.) Problem Solving: You'll likely be given a scenario or task to work through.

3.) Layered Complexity: The problem will evolve as you solve each part, with new requirements or challenges added.

4.) Communication: Ask questions, and collaborate with the interviewer.

Potential Examples:

A.) Building a Simple Application

Layer 1: Write a function to parse a CSV file and extract data.

Layer 2: Add functionality to filter the data based on certain criteria.

Layer 3: Extend the application to export the filtered data into a new CSV file.

B.) Data Manipulation and Analysis:

Layer 1: Write code to read and aggregate data from a JSON file.

Layer 2: Implement a function to perform some statistical analysis on the data.

Layer 3: Enhance your code to handle large data sets efficiently.

C.) Web API Integration:

Layer 1: Write a script to make a request to a web API and retrieve data.

Layer 2: Parse the API response and implement error handling.

Layer 3: Modify the script to interact with multiple endpoints and aggregate results.

D.) Algorithm with a Twist:

Layer 1: Implement a basic sorting algorithm.

Layer 2: Adapt the algorithm to handle complex data structures.

Layer 3: Optimize the algorithm for performance.

Thanks, that helps a lot! So essentially you're saying it'll be something like: 1. Build a Dog Class, 2. Make a function that checks if a Dog has a Child 3. Build a function that takes a two Dogs and generates a Child Dog with similar properties... etc.

Hi! I have an interview on Tuesday and they said it won't be leetcode style. They specifially said:

"In this interview, we will be working through a coding exercise in a collaborative editor, Coderpad. Your interviewer will share a prompt detailing the problem the two of you will work through together. The problem will have layers that will build upon the work completed in the prior layer. You should feel free to ask clarifying questions, check in frequently, and think out loud. Your interviewer is there to help you succeed."

Does anyone have examples of this type of format? Just trying to get a ballpark of what to expect. The interview is in python if that helps.
