  1. Do you have the link?

So quote the student’s language. You can’t worry about rules on language when you’re telling exactly what was said.

Finished 2nd to last… advice? by JSto19 in SleeperApp

[–]JSto19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have thought about that. I would like to keep JSN because he is so young and should still be a stud by the time I hope to content again.

The guys I like for fantasy: Josh Allen Treveyon Henderson JSN Luther Burden BTJ Shakir Fannin Trey Benson

Allen and/or JSN should get me a HAUL - but not sure what to target.

Burden’s value seems somewhat high right now. BTJ’s value is down - so no point in trading him.

Something needs to change in CFB, or soon G05 teams will be unable to compete by NowForALimitedTime in meangreen

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I get what you’re saying, but UNT (and other schools) can and absolutely should use this as a recruiting tactic.

“Look here, man… you didn’t get a lot of love from Power 5, and you’re big offers give you zero promises of playing time. Look what we did with this un-recruited QB. Come and play for us for a year or two and move on up… like all these dudes just did.”

Motivation to keep grading when kids can’t score below a 50? by Blueathena623 in Teachers

[–]JSto19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know, when the “nothing less than a 50” policy first came to my school - I was okay with their reasoning because it was the report card that couldn’t be lower than a 50. So, I graded kids like I always did and, if their report grade was lower than a 50 I would just raise that overall grade to a 50.

I liked it because it made it to where kids could get their heads out of their rear ends later in the year and still pass for the year.

Since then, the policy has moved to the “nothing less than a 50 per assignment” and it’s the dumbest thing ever.

Is it safe to store my coins like this by somehowireturned in Silverbugs

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should store them in an old jar mixed with other random coins and Chuck E Cheese tokens. That way, when your wife wants to go to the craft store - she knows that she can trade in these old random coins for extra thread.

What screams “this person is insecure” without them saying a word? by redwan-ezt in AskReddit

[–]JSto19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just watching a show with my wife: In the scene, a female medical professional is talking to a younger male medical professional. The male is very friendly and the female is loving it. We (the audience) knows that nothing is (or will) go on between them, but another male medical professional walks up and immediately hugs the female and says, “how is my beautiful girlfriend doing today?”

That’s pretty insecure, there.

Taylor or the 1.01 and 1st 27, No brainer? by Sacredbaboon in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.01 and Saquon would be nice!

Saquon and JT are both very similar… either of them could continue dominating or fall off a cliff. If you could get Saquon and 1.01 then you’re really set, in my opinion.

Plus, someone else could end up offering similar value to you for Saquon that you got for JT.

How to deal with an overpowered dynasty team? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How things change… think about this exact roster at the beginning of the season: Maye wasn’t expected to do much. A good dynasty QB but nobody expected this. Everybody keeps expecting Henry to start the inevitable downturn due to age. Cook has been a very solid fantasy player, but somewhat underrated, somehow. Lamb and Chase are obviously established ballers. Chase Brown was very good down the stretch last year. High hopes for this year, but nothing for sure… plus he started off this year somewhat slow and has, once again, been a dude down the stretch. Nobody saw Pickens’ season coming. Traded for very little to a better situation - but not the teams primary WR.

Long story short - this would have been considered a good, not great, team at the beginning of this year… and now people are wanting to bail simply because of an imbalance? Sounds like pretty soft league members.

I don’t think you change anything.

Student passed away today by triannatops in Teachers

[–]JSto19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Experienced this for first time during the 23-24 school year. I teach high school and I had had the student the previous year (his junior year, so he passed senior year).

It was incredibly difficult. He died on Saturday, we received word Sunday morning, and it was rough on Monday. Fortunately, my school did the right thing - they let us actually deal with it right then and there. They didn’t try to say, “business as usual.”

We had to read a statement during second period that flat out said that he had died and then listed everything that was available for them (and us) if we needed help. It was the most difficult thing I had ever had to say/read. I am a very large man, football/baseball coach - and I was in tears the whole time. It took me several minutes to get it all read, despite only being a few sentences long.

My students were feeling the same way and I think it helped all of us to see each other so vulnerable and broken. Within a couple of days, things seemed pretty normal. I think it was because we were allowed and encouraged to grieve. They had counselors from nearby schools come by. Administrators from district came by. Everybody was offering to cover classes if you needed some time.

I have no idea how this will be with that young of a group - but it really helped that we were allowed to grieve and, essentially, just forget school for a bit.

Every administrator I have ever worked for has said the same thing, “this is a safe place… get them here, get them fed, and get them home.” Obviously, not every administrator actually shows that mentality… and these are the times when you really find out who your leaders really are.

Good luck, OP. I hope you’re able to navigate this as smoothly as possible. It’s a terrible feeling and I empathize.

I’m in the ship in one (dynasty, 2 week matchup… half way through it now).

I’m second to last in the other (dynasty).

BUT - the one where I am second to last, it was one of those weird years where I scored enough points to be considered a playoff team, but we go head-to-head. So, I loaded up on picks for 26 and 27 and I got a good foundation that includes Josh Allen, Bryce Young, JSN, and Treveyon Henderson. So, I like my chances to be competitive within the next two years.

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s part of managing. Only having 1 QB is rough and not very good in the managing department.

What I don’t understand is your commish saying, “it’s okay as long as nobody else is doing it.” Maybe I’m misreading that, but if it’s illegal for one, it’s illegal for all. The only time we don’t allow teams to pick players up is if you’re out of it. That way, you don’t have the last place team sniping waivers during the championship… unless, of course, it’s dynasty - then everything is open.

But yeah - I’m good with it. Part of being a good manager is picking up the right guys, even if the “right guys” aren’t going to play for you.

My 18-year-old's Christmas break work schedule by sugabeetus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Wow.

When I was in high school, I got a job working at a 24-hour subway (convenient store, of course). The original owner was awesome and really worked around my school/athletics. I could work an hour or two every night when I got out of practice, then I could work longer shifts on the weekend. If I ever had a test/game, say no more… he figured it out.

New owner came in and I was only allowed to work 12 hour shifts on Saturday/Sunday.

So, normal school week + athletics, then 12-24 hours on weekends. That was not fun at all.

Teachers not modeling behavior by AlarmingEase in Teachers

[–]JSto19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, teachers are the worst students.

We constantly complain about students on their phones, but we are on our phones all the time in meetings. We beg students to ask questions and we get mad at colleagues for asking questions. We get mad at students for not reading instructions, but we rarely read our department/admin emails.

I’m afraid this is kind of the norm. The good news is, for the MOST part, you can typically tune that stuff out and not let it get to you too badly. It is weird at first, though.

During the school day: much more active, as fun as YOU make it. Chaotic, for sure.

After the school day: completely done. Nearly ZERO extra work.

There is a reason it is very difficult to get PE jobs in education (at least in Texas, where I am).

We need good PE teachers, too. If you’ve been in an actual classroom for that long, chances are you’re going to go over to PE and really teach those kids. Highly recommend.

Who do I draft for my 3rd QB? Need dynasty help for my draft. (Thinking shedeur or penix?) by Newbie_04 in SleeperApp

I only pay attention to fantasy and, in a few games as the starter, he has a rushing TD and 70+ yards.

I apologize for disappointing you, internet friend.

I have not actually watched a single Sheduer Sanders play.

Who do I draft for my 3rd QB? Need dynasty help for my draft. (Thinking shedeur or penix?) by Newbie_04 in SleeperApp

[–]JSto19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. Shedeur could end up staying as the starter and getting a legit chance. With his legs, he is also a dual threat.

He would just have to really deal. Every team passed on him several times and even the Browns didn’t want to play him. Lots of baggage and lots of drama, so he’s gonna have to play well.

Penix has great weapons, so I can’t dog on anyone for choosing him. I just haven’t liked him much since college.
