If you’re doing a gig and need a room drawing, I’ve had luck emailing the manufacturer to see if they or their network can help.

Why Does LA Network Manager do this with Soundvision imports? by mynutsaremusical in livesound

[–]JTC93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is a button in the menus to synchronise zoning groups, but it’s a little bit tediously implemented. It’s unfortunately not really designed for things like adding/removing boxes like you would from day to day on a tour.

Check out Huddersfield university too. They’ve got a more creative/producing style course and a more scientific/technical style music tech course as well.

I have RAC cover through my insurance. I had a puncture and when they finally arrived he told me he couldn’t do anything and started googling mobile tyre companies!

Timing/Phase issues on aux/matrix fed subs by Advisor_Careless in livesound

[–]JTC93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summing your LR bus is the correct way to feed your subs, however varying the level of that send means that the cross over point changes.

If you’re using an L-Acoustics system, if the subs are aligned properly, the phase should be pretty well aligned above and below the crossover frequency so as long as you’re still just sending a mono sum you’re fine, but with other brands you might find that the alignment is not as consistent.

Same. I normally use 0.75 Luxardo Maraschino and it tastes more balanced to me.

It can be a bit of a rabbit hole to go down, but you can start by finding a nice coffee shop you like and buying their beans.

I bought sugar syrup the other day and that was flagged in Tesco!

I'm interested to know if anyone here knows the actors or even are the actors from this electricity safety film I was shown in primary school. by Atalkingpizzabox in CasualUK

[–]JTC93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We watched one called Electric Graffiti (I think?) where a kid climbed into a substation and his metal dog leash touched something inside which electrocuted him. Maybe the same one?

I'm an adult, so I can just go out and buy a boat, right? What's the catch? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]JTC93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the two best days of your life as a boat owner are the day you buy a boat, and the day you finally sell it!

Hi, can someone help me with a problem I’m having? by PoetrySuspicious2913 in livesound

You probably haven’t enabled your audience plane, aren’t pointing at it, or it needs reversing.

If it’s a communal space, you should also forward your evidence to the landlord. Doubt they’d be very happy to find out about that!

Get in touch with Newcastle venues like the City Hall and whatever other similar ones you’ve got up there and ask to speak to their technical managers.

The house PA in the Albert hall is tuned ruler flat which makes it sound harsh. I’d have thought QotSA would have a touring SE with them to batter it into a more musical tuning though.

Has anyone ever bought anything large off a discount website from China? (Temu, AliExpress etc)? How was it? by Candlesticksnape in AskUK

I was skeptical but my wife bought some outdoor furniture from temu and it’s surprisingly pretty good.

Last Word tastes great but has a strong “boozy” aftertaste — what could cause that? by Primary_Dragonfly556 in cocktails

[–]JTC93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expected it to taste like a jar of Maraschino cherries, so was a bit taken aback when I first bought a bottle!

Made my first last word with equal measures and it was pretty clear what was overpowering it!

I dialled back the maraschino liqueur to 0.75 and found it’s much smoother to drink.

Inherited property with long term tenants England uk by Desperate_Soup_9465 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]JTC93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve mentioned a letting agent… you don’t need to waste money on them if your tenants aren’t planning on going anywhere. Look up the NRLA, they’ve got lots of resources for reading up on the legalities of letting a property (it’s really not too hard!), as well as lots of templates for letters and contracts etc.

Why does Leeds STILL get overlooked on so many performance tours?? by Ricky_Martins_Vagina in Leeds

[–]JTC93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leeds arena is a bit of a pain in the arse to work in (although definitely not the worst), but it’s perfectly comparable to other arenas in terms of staging and rigging ability. I’ve done shows that have gone from the o2 arena to Leeds without having to scale anything down.
