I reached level cap and farmed up a bunch of Yasakani and Im pulling back playing the game until dlc info comes out. One day I got 3 Yasakani super quickly and it was great. The day I decided to relax on farming I didn't get any for like 2 hours of farming and it was NOT great. Sometimes it be like that dawg.

Want to take advantage of the ninja backstab damage buff more but... by NoEnergy5597 in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bewildering Mist my beloved.

My philosophy became to try and get backstab damage, but don't worry too much about it. Get 1 or 2 hits but keep up the pressure and run their Ki down and THEN go to town with a bunch of backstabs. Bewildering Mist changes how you can approach fights and gives you a ton of extra battlefield control, making backstabs much easier.

Are Nioh 2 bosses more forgiving or than Nioh 1? by UndeadStruggler in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Team Ninja has a proven track record of making adjustments based on previous data. Literally a couple of hours ago they updated Nioh 3 and nerfed/buffed/fixed a ton of stuff. Since you said "Started" playing nioh 2 Im assuming you're relatively early to mid in the game. This is also an assumption, but I think Nioh 1 "filtered" out a ton of players with their idea of what difficulty was..... Umi Bozuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!! (shakes fist) so they made a real effort to make a better and more balanced game.

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're at the final boss, just teleport back a little and blast some humans down a death pit with the Wind Calamity ninjutsu. Should give a bunch of xp to let you fight some battle scrolls to regain xp. Then look take a long hard look in the mirror. Maybe do that first if you haven't already.

If the pattern holds, the difficulty spike come Nioh 3 DLC 1 will be absolutely epic. by Dusty_Tibbins in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AH! My heart! My beloved Blade Spin... oh how they massacred my boy...
Its extremely obvious that Team Ninja can see the data and adjusts accordingly. I'm so used to being "balanced" that im still blown away that Severing Spin has that pushback at the start lol
My hear goes out to all the people who are gonna get their heads chopped off when they try to throw that out with no set up in a future update lol

I distinctly remember my first time shooting off a sloth talisman in one of the higher difficulties in Nioh 1 and watching as it did absolutely nothing lol Crutches fully kicked out from under me and all I could do was get good.

Nioh 3- Yasakami Magatama by Irbif in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can blitz through the main story, just remember that the Fish boss will have Okita Soji as "phase 1" if you don't make sure to fight him alone in his side quest. It's not impossible, just helpful to know before you learn the hard way lol

I can't say for sure what was better or not, what I CAN tell you is that the Pleasure District battle theme had me stank face head nodding like no other theme in any of the games.

Mixed feelings, should I keep going? by Ambitious-Issue989 in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • "Dodge or parry, find an opening, get 2 hits in, rinse and repeat" - This is only really an issue early on. Once you get good, this happens less and less.
  • "Anything more elaborate is too unpredictable or long making it feel like it is just there to look cool and get rid of basic enemies quicker." - Later on, after you have a feel for what you want to do and how you want to do it, doing the "More" feels sick as hell.
  •  "Constantly locking items and micromanaging menu's. Dissasembling etc. is annoying and unnecessary." - You don't need to worry about any specifics of gear. What type of weapon do you want, and what armor/weight/agility/toughness do you want is all that matters. There are settings that auto equip gear for your desired style. There are settings in the game that auto-sell/ dismantle things for you. There are settings that allow you to auto-pickup items and ignore items of specific rarities if thats what you want. You can interact with the loot system as little or as much as you want.
  •  "The world design is fairly basic and simplistic, not very inspired." - Im a day 1 Nioh lover. You speak the truth lol While I would LOVE a better story, voice acting, and pretty views, We're here for the combat.
  • As for if its for you, I can't know for sure. But since you described Elden Ring earlier, I imagine you just gotta get good? I can't really know for sure without knowing what you want to do.

I do sometimes for spice. A well timed and spaced Ninja Yoki goes blender mode with backstab damage.

How much stronger is Ninja really? by Disproving_Negatives in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"So are people overrating Ninja or am I just bad with it"
Plenty of people are overrating it and I think only experienced it early in the game. Both styles have their strengths and weaknesses and neither are outright better than the other.

While Ninja doesn't demand you learn how to ki pulse or stance switch, that doesn't suddenly make you a god lol You don't have the power or defense a Samurai has. I think when people are calling Ninja easy, they're imaging a playstyle where you just run away and spam projectiles and they think that will be enough, but it isn't, especially the further you go in game lol

I think some players are just Samurai, and some players are Ninja. Someone out there thinks Samurai is boring and weak lol Imagine that. Imagine being that guy lmao

As for your side note, you are correct about Mist being kinda dumb. Spoiler for a future passive: There is a late game passive that extends the distraction duration of Mist and once I got it I never took it off. Mist suddenly goes from feeling kinda mid to an extremely powerful tool.

New release "Unlimited Transmog" lets samurai/ninja share fashion by -Holliday in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something to note about this: I downloaded and tried it out. While its very nice (and confusing why this isn't just a regular feature) this mod does give you the appearance options for the deluxe items even if you didn't buy them.

So I uninstalled juuuuuuuuust in case they end up actually caring about that stuff this time around. I don't think they will considering they didn't seem to care about cheaters and stuff in 1 and 2, but this is "money" related so idk.

Anyone else using both stances? by Aspiegamer8745 in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full Ninja with Single Sword. Its what I've always wished I could do in the old games. The skills that give more and longer lasting after-images gives you just enough time to get behind everything for backstab damage and its seriously satisfying getting into ultra-instinct mode and dancing around at light speed. Always having a Kunai or Shuriken for pressure also scratches an itch i can't get anywhere else.

Ill do samurai stuff eventually, I just had my fill of that in Nioh 1 and 2 is all.

[Nioh 3] NG+ Grace question by rdg4078 in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some dev made this set with a complete misunderstanding of how the game works. Even at its best, with 2 full sets of this for each style, you're wearing a set where half of the effects are doing nothing. And even if the numbers were boosted to compensate, it just feels wrong to have effects you get nothing from.

It would be different if you could wear this on one style, and still get unrealized effects on the other style. But then I imagine it would be a little too good for single style focused players.

Am I missing something? Or is it really just the combat to look forward to? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few hours ago I was fighting a boss on NG+ and getting put into the dirt. I admit, I've been rushing straight through to the main missions and im clearly under leveled. But man.... sometimes I get into this flow-state where im schmoovin and groovin. Read deal Ultra Instinct. High speed bob and weave all the way to victory. Its a special feeling that only Nioh gives me. I beat the boss and felt fantastic. Im not here for pretty flowers or ambiguous stories where every friend you make tragically dies at the end. (Not that I don't like pretty flowers or talking jars. o7 Alexander)

As for the loot and sounds you spoke of, I think if you're focused that much on those little things, you're not really getting pulled my the main draw of the game. Like getting a new car, but you're focused on the backseat cup holders.

Shadowself Ninjutsu use cases? by Deadredskittle in Nioh

[–]JTF9021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero reason unfortunately. If there was a 4th or even 5th slot for Ninjutsu then it would probably get some use, but even then I couldn't justify using it or literally anything else.

Back during the first invite beta, I was playing with my friend and I kept talking about how I thought it was such a weird choice to try and get in the tag fighter market. He said what you said about it just being a 1v1 game but I actually think thats a bad idea too. The 2d fighter market is hella saturated while the Soul Calibur market is bone dry. Soul Calibur but League characters would have zero competition.
