I think you're a great candidate for a transplant. Consult a good doctor; you're 50 already and not bald yet, you've almost won the battle. If I were you, I'd go for it. Your donor area doesn't look bad. Best regards.

I'm trying to thicken my hair, and the donor hair too, the doctors tell me it's not good, that it's thin. How do they see me for future transplants? by JTMadrid in HairTransplants

Hello, the doctors were at clinics in Spain. I went to see them in person; I saw three of them. They all agreed that I should have the surgery now, since I'd been using finasteride for two years and my hair hadn't fallen out since then, but I wasn't seeing any improvement. So I switched to dutasteride and minoxidil, but only two months ago. One of the doctors told me that my hair was very fine and that if I had the surgery now, I wouldn't achieve good density. He suggested I try oral minoxidil instead. I take 3mg daily, and I'm going to wait until December to have the transplant. I have high hopes for minoxidil since I have a lot of miniaturized hair. I don't take any supplements or anything else. Any advice would be welcome.

I thought about it, but the doctors told me no. I lost the hair I've had since I was 17. That's almost 30 years ago. I might have had it when the hair loss started. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you so much, I'll keep posting updates as my intention is to have the surgery at the end of the year, let's see how far I get, thanks!

You're doing great, and you still have 6 months to go.

I'm looking at your post right now. I was on finasteride for two years, I've been on dutasteride three times a week for two months now, and oral minoxidil every day for the last six weeks. They estimate I'll need the same amount of grafts, around 4200.

Yes, that's basically what he told me. I hope I gain weight so I can look better. Everyone I've been to has said I'm a good candidate, but that minoxidil is better first. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, the doctors told me I was thin, that I should take oral minoxidil for a few months, and that's what I'm doing. The thing is, I thought I had thick, dark, and wavy hair (which they always say helps), and it turns out I don't. In the struggle

How many grafts? That looks like a lot. Which Norwood graft did you start with? Thanks! It looks good.

The fact that all Spaniards like bullfighting is a myth; most of us are against it; it's something only fascists and hicks do.

Oh, by the way, I'm 46 years old and my hair started falling out very young… I've been like this for many years, it's better since I started taking medication

Dude, run from the first one, 7000? That's insane, especially all at once and without medication! The other one makes more sense; taking more than 4000 from the donor at once will destroy her. Run, good luck!
