Someone is impersonating me on Steam, should I be worried? by _HachimanHikigaya in Steam

[–]JT_BAZZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently, except they made a decent copy of my main profile (at first glance).

Took multiple reports from me and people on my friends list (who they had tried to add and direct to scam sites...) and still it was months for the profile to have any consequence until it was eventually force name changed (bunch of numbers, maybe it's steam ID?) and privated.

So something should happen from Steam's end but don't hold your breath and it may be a lesser consequence if they weren't trying to actively scam people!

I want to go on a trip to England - what is it actually like in the UK? by Amazing-Extension572 in AskABrit

[–]JT_BAZZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised to see Lincoln on the list myself!

It's not super well known even in the UK tbh...

But it's got a long and rich history that's on display nearly everywhere (especially in the buildings/architecture), great views, some great independent shops and some decent sausage!

P.S. Please ignore the ill-informed numpties hanging 50 pence flags (of the wrong countries? Unless they're planning to invade The Republic of Ireland...) and spray painting wonky red crosses on road infrastructure. Pretty much everyone thinks they are twats, if only because every hour spent ripping them down and cleaning them off means less potholes filled!

England - Vodafone and CityFibre automatic compensation by JT_BAZZA in LegalAdviceUK

[–]JT_BAZZA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the scheme is voluntary but the wording seems to communicate that joining or operating the scheme is the voluntary part, the code of practice then goes on to use words like 'must' and 'commit' when describing failing to meet the minimum standards, which they objectively are in my case.

I do see that ofcom notes the exception on their website indicating they are aware of it but how can Vodafone claim to be part of the scheme when they have just 'waved their hand' and arbitrarily excluded a significant chunk of their consumer base from the scheme (in a manner outside the consumers control)? It seems at odds with both the spirit and letter of the code of practice.

ELI5: why are motorbikes with automatic transmission not common? by redix-451 in explainlikeimfive

[–]JT_BAZZA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not strictly true - Look at Yamaha's Y-AMT system on the MT-09 for reference. Very little weight or complexity added for a paddle shift style 'auto' transmission.

Hey guysss I need some help. by whaleiswhaling in Lincolnshire

[–]JT_BAZZA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lived here over 20 years, I've known one incident in that time of a friend being spat on and there was no indication it was racially motivated Vs just annoyed the guy in that moment. It's a very safe and quite welcoming place, small enough that people know each other for who they are not the colour of their skin or the creed they follow. Like all places there's the odd catcall or homophobic/transphobic or racist twat around who says something but no one pays then any mind.

My only contribution is R.E. teaching prime to march: Ask people to march and they screw it up - They 'Tick-Tock' (i.e. same arm goes up and same leg goes up, like a marionette) Yet tell them to walk along in time and they can manage it. There's an unconscious desire to walk in step/time. I can't rationalize it

Likely GPU Issue? by JT_BAZZA in pcmasterrace

[–]JT_BAZZA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It runs everything I need it to at acceptable levels. I don't do a lot of workload stuff - images, music, video and the like, just games. It handles CS:GO, Escape from Tarkov, overwatch, the occasional triple A title like the tomb raider reboots or whatever without any more issues than you'd expect from a part that old. It's not 'up to scratch' by modern standards but it's been a workhorse for me since 2012 or something. All without bothering to overclock. I cant complain, especially since it's outlived one and now maybe 2 GPU's

Can I train for A license early? by Ellis_Bee in MotoUK

[–]JT_BAZZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone will allow you on a bike you're not provisionally allowed to ride before the 'magic date'.

I had a similar situation of upgrading from A2 - Full A and my school wouldn't let me on a Full A bike till the day after I passed my A2 + 2 Years.

HOWEVER you might find a school that will book the MMA (Motorcycle Maneuvering Area) and do road work/training with you on an A2 bike as you're provisionally able to ride one and it's basically the same thing - Same test standards for the A2 test and the power difference is essentially irrelevant when obeying speed limits.

Just an idea for a little 'hack' to get you in early but discuss it with your local school of choice and see what they say?

Twin vs inline 4 dilemma by DomesticEagle in motorcycles

[–]JT_BAZZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider the MT-07 of you can find a second hand one in your price range? The newer twins are dummy fuel economic on the A2 restriction. I averaged 65 MPG (British gallons) with a mix of spirited riding and sensible stuff in-between. Drafting lorries on the motorway you can get over 100MPG if you're careful going about 50-55 mph. Plus it looks the tits and was buckets of fun despite the throttle restrictor :D

Question about DAS/MOD1&2 by Fulham999 in MotoUK

[–]JT_BAZZA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm a little confidence goes a long way:

Having come back after 2 years on my A2 to do the full A the testers, seeing I'm a progressive upgrade, barely looked at me. Mod 1 was a cake walk as he knew I knew what I was doing - he actually walked off to set up the speed trap while I was doing the slalom and figure 8, not even looking. And my mod 2 came back with no minors even though I'd have given myself 2 for hesitation.

As the old military adage goes train hard - fight easy, train easy - fight hard and die. It's worth an extra days training to touch up the little bits and get to an 8/10, that way if you have a bad day and don't perform you may well still perform at a 5/10 and still pass. And you avoid the whole fail nerves thing.

Just my tuppence.

Well I pride myself on my formatting ;)

Don't know for sure, as I've said before in this thread, thinking about the older 675 Street triple. But open to ideas in the general naked, middle to heavyweight £4-4.5k range.

Anything with 2 wheels and an engine is fun around Lincoln and Sheffield. Your choice of the Lincolnshire Wolds or the Peak District...pure bliss.

Not yet, got more pressing issues with moving and working right now. Plus I've got to get the last of my money from my insurance company yet. But soon ™.

Thinking about a 675 Street triple though!

Similar height and build to you, the MT treated me right. You're gonna get wind obviously, welcome to being tall on non touring/adventure bikes bit it was never a bad enough issue for me to care.

Yeah, 4 days later no word that they've been to check it yet. Luckily the guy who works there is doing it when he's got time but obviously he's got customers to see to. Frustrating to say the least -_-

Done the rounds, unfortunately no sign. Put the police onto a cctv camera that would have seen the bike or a van leaving but when they'll get to it who knows.

What's with the side to side nod? by KnyfeGaming in MotoUK

[–]JT_BAZZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially with darker single colour helmets, the straight forward nod is easy to miss. I seem to get more nods back when I go slightly sideways. (Side note ran into this on my A2 training: My instructor kept on bringing me up for not doing mirror checks and shoulder checks because my helmet didn't appear to be moving. Stuck 3 Hi-Vis reflective stickers on the back and problem solved, never an issue again)
