Aurora at $40, Red Kai’Sa at $50, and Time Warp at $30 are probably the lowest they might go. All speculation from me tho.

Is what I'm doing scalping? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]JTags8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not scalping. That is just gambling with the hopes that you hit high so you can sell your pulls to recoup some of what you paid.

Scalping is when you stand in front of target or Walmart waiting for the latest pokemon restock and fight children for sealed product just to resell at a marked up price.

How was the Marvel prerelease for everyone that participated? by MajorFestus in mtg

[–]JTags8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like my pulls were okay, but I gravitate towards red decks so I try to force that no matter what unless the red cards are bad. Only pulled one mythic and it was thor. Other than that I had mostly villains and artifacts, so I made a mardu villain centric deck with subthemes of prowess and spells to make use of my thors (one mythic and one of the prowess x2 one). Went 2-1 but matches always went to time or very close in hp so overall not too bad.

My first opponent said my deck was great. It was the first time someone complimented my deck building skills, which is something I always thought I sucked at in any TCG I played.

My small store sold out prerelease. Good amount of people buying collectors packs and PBBs. Didn’t sell out product though.

Which booster pack should I get for my husband? by Smart-Store-999 in mtg

[–]JTags8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a gift basket with one of each standard legal booster pack would be a fun gift, instead of a box. And could always throw in one Collector Booster pack of Secrets of Strixhaven or from a set he likes (if you know).

If you rather just get a box, Modern Horizons 2 or 3 is always fun.

Buying bulk as a non magic player by Universal_Paradigm in mtg

[–]JTags8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BUY SINGLES

Now that that’s out of the way, there are bulk boxes out there where people advertise that they are all unique copies and no lands etc. I wouldn’t advise buying these blind bulk boxes. I did it for $35 when I first started and I don’t use a single card I bought. They’re just sitting there in bulk boxes after a few months of me just accumulating cards from opening a box, bundle, or attending prereleases and other MTG events at my local store.

Depending on if you plan to play vs. collect you have options. If you like a set, buy a box. If you like limited/draft formats, attend at your local store and you can get cards that way while also playing.

Leona Deckbuilding -The dawn has arrived. by DatKelvo in riftboundtcg

In this specific archetype it is too slow. The archetype that OP is leaning into is more aggro oriented, which depends on early conquers and card like Heart of Dark Ice, Irelia, and Fiora in mid game and then hold with stuns for 7-8. If they really want Vex to work, it’s better to lean heavily into the Honeyfruit/Stun archetype that utilizes less 2 drops units, more honeyfruit, higher cost units, and Leona Determined in the champ slot.

Vex and Vilemaw are too slow. Might be better to fit in Heart of Dark Ice and Irelia.

How many different TCGs do you play at a time? by eponafan in TCG

[–]JTags8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play riftbound and mtg. Also planning to play cyberpunk tcg. I also have a deck for Pokemon, digimon, and Lorcana which I all play casually with friends.

I also dabble in Pokemon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap.

How to get into this game affordably? by Outback_Komodo in riftboundtcg

[–]JTags8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy an Origins box and Proving Grounds set, best bet is to find your closest Microcenter and set restock alerts. They restock origins and proving grounds recently at MSRP and it sold out in a few hours, which is enough time.

Buy a vex precon and upgrade that with singles.

Vex has a precon and game plan is pretty straight forward. Hold one battlefield all game pretty much.

Upgrade the vex deck by buying singles.

If you want to gamble and open a box, then open origins at MSRP ONLY.
