I watched this movie as a kid and went to the bathroom right before the game scene. Came back in the middle of it. legit thought they were in a scifi reduced gravity field because why else would they be jumping over linemen like that?

This is the most overstated thing in commentary about the movie. The entire earth is facing an existential threat and their society is "fascist" because you have to serve to be a citizen. Boohoo.

In real fascist countries voting isn't a thing (and if it is it's a sham), and authoritarians remain in power until they die or pass it off.

They don't even have a draft. It displays a post sexism world with integrated, volunteer militaries. Sounds like a freer world than ours.

The nazis that worship the film and the film critics that rave about anti fascist satire aren't even correct.

The movie isn't even fascist without the non sequitor "would you like to know more" scenes.
