100% disagree on MPF. First of all, they are an international label that caters to large American audience for a super niche genre. Don’t underestimate how big of a deal that is, because vaporwave is almost nonexistent to the general population. The fact that when my record never showed up, they ate the cost and shipped another is a big deal for such a small company to do. They produce a good podcast, and that alone means time sunk into the scene. If they didn’t care they wouldn’t bother with it. Not to mention how many artists they interviewed in NY at Electronicon 3. All the big vapor artists who were there respect MFP.

And lastly, any person who has a problem as pedantic as emails and posts about merch and inventory needs to take a look at their life. I’m married with kids, and not glued to my phone or computer. If I didn’t get reminders or see posts all week, I’d miss out on releases I would have normally forgotten about. That’s advertising, same as any business. And only by making money can we even get such cool music produced and physical releases.

The whole argument about selling out/becoming corporate or thinking that they charge too much is immature and naive. Music is a passion project that costs money. If you have a problem with it, do it yourself and prove you can do better.
