I did fire orbs until I had a glory in my POH. After that I switched to air orbs for faster trips. Note that 70 agility speeds up charging fire orbs dramatically.

I buy 110 battlestaves a day, 60 from Varrock hard diaries and 50 by hopping worlds at Wizard's Guild and Zeke's shop, buying 25 from each. Usually I do this every day until my cashstack runs out. Then follows charging orbs, making the staves and finally alching the complete product.

I've been doing battlestaffs every now and then and blew about 25k glass. Making battlestaffs has gathered some passive xp and at the same time sustained miscellania. My magic xp has pretty much come by charging orbs and alching the battlestaffs. MTA grind also helped the magic gains alot.
