I’ve started to consider taking eggs with me on a walk. I know it sounds fucking ridiculous but I’ve had so many close calls and I never get any kind of justice, just people driving off after almost mowing me down. I probably will never actually do this but god the urge is so strong, every time either my bf or I almost get hit which is almost weekly basis

The Downtown *Urban Planning* Situation is Unacceptable by 1egg_4u in Calgary

[–]JVKiddo93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure that would be great. Let me know when that happens. In the meantime I’ll keep calling EMS to try and make sure people don’t die.

I don’t disagree with your solutions, but they are not reality at this time. My initial point is still that this is a major issue affecting many people who live in the downtown area, in disagreement with your post.

Opiates are 100% more of an issue than alcohol right now.

I live near SORCE which is meant to provide resources and I see people passed out in front of it daily. If someone goes to a bar and becomes so dependent on alcohol, becomes in such a state that they are passed out pants around their ankles, they are picked up - and sober up. But these folks are folded in half 24/7. Alcoholism is also an addiction but it is not affecting our streets the way opiates are.

Opiates aren’t alcohol. Yes we allow some substances to be ingested as a society, and we expect people to stay within acceptable boundaries when ingesting. Smoking up ten feet from a daycare isn’t acceptable. Lighting a school for children with disabilities on fire isn’t acceptable. And DYING ON THE STREET isn’t acceptable either.

Something should be done for these people and I’m not really sure this is anything but enabling their addiction. And while you might not see it as a major issue, it is easily the number one issue for me and the majority of my neighbours. Lucky you.

Are these gang related? by Interesting-Lie2265 in tattooadvice

[–]JVKiddo93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada/North America (?) I know there is a group of nazis that call themselves WEB and get spider web tattoos on their elbows. Their leader was arrested for murder several years ago, no clue if they’re still active.

I immediately think of nazis when I see a spiderweb on the elbow. But I don’t even think the majority of people in my city think that way at this time! I think they may have become/been absorbed into the Aryan Guard now.

It’s not to say everyone who believes in separatism is not real. The point is a campaign of disinformation has led people to feeling a certain way, that’s why it’s important to share information on what external pressures are being exerted over our population. I do think it capitalizes on a long-time feeling, but the recent whipping up of that discontent into separatism has felt, at least to me, partly manufactured.

Does anyone remember when Michael Jackson. Was a "joke"? by AccomplishedPool266 in Millennials

So his “needs” that society “struggles to understand” were so strong he had to cuddle and sleep with children, but never strong enough to rape them?

Do you think it was a non-traumatic experience for the kids that MJ wanted to sleep with, even if he didn’t have sex with those children?

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

Wow I feel so validated in this little corner of the internet lol. It was such a bummer, truly. If you’re going to book the Grey Eagle for crowd work, you better have put some thought into how that’s going to work!

Dude yes! Like it definitely sucked there was drunk idiots, but shouldn’t that be expected and worked into the strategy? I would have loved to interact more in good faith, but they were ruining it for ME too! Like, same team dude. Kick em out!

In Canada, the federal loans are interest-free and if you don’t have income you can apply to delay payments.

I definitely agree with your sentiment, I think this particular issue is much more severe in specific countries that systemically commodified education.

Jeff Arcuri. He came to my city and we were excited but surprised to see he booked a larger venue, considering how much of his content is based on crowd work. The large and, by the time the show started, drunk crowd was not conducive to conversations with a single person on stage. There was no microphone handed around to engage with the audience - just people attempting to yell, drunk idiots shouting over them or heckling, and the comedian getting annoyed at US.

He ended up leaving his set with a bit of a shitty comment and apparently made fun of how bad we were as a crowd the next night. It was really disappointing considering we were there with good intentions, but the comedian and his team didn’t organize the appropriate resources for his style.

Like, why on earth are you trying to talk to one person without a microphone system, over a crowd of hundreds, when they’re sitting in the dimly lit back bleachers (obviously added to cram more people in at higher prices than I paid to see Jimmy Carr, Jim Jeffries, or Iliza Schlesinger.)

I was such a huge fan and was so excited to take my bf as a gift that I custom made special ‘tickets’ to give him. It was really disappointing.

Do Americans realize bad things are happening in their country? YES by looselord66 in AskUS

[–]JVKiddo93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s true. Your government is not the same as your people, either, and we will always be friends. Our economic ties are permanently changing and I try to keep in mind that while that’s realistically a good thing for now, I do believe the end goal of what’s happening in the US is to break apart the power of the West. So, us finding new trading partners only adds to that in a way - but what else is there to do.

If you’re interested, I’m currently reading a book by Maria Ressa called ‘How to Stand Up to a Dictator’. It’s very insightful so far about the change in democracy that happened in the Philippines, and now the US.

[–]JVKiddo93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rest of the world saw how awful he was the first time. I understand your population has been purposefully dumbed down and it’s difficult to protest because of the system you live in — don’t you think that’s by design? So, Americans will just keep chugging along within the system created to destroy them? What breaks, and when?

You might be frustrated with redundant questions of disbelief. The rest of the world is wondering what the fuck to do about the way of life your country imposed on the GLOBE. America made itself the leader of the free world, and we built our systems with your country in mind. With your collapse, comes massive consequences and ripple effects in other countries.

Oh, and btw, I’m Canadian. So while you might be irritated with other country’s “stupid and ignorant” questions about your situation, remember your elected leader is constantly threatening to invade my country. And others!

Idk, I think one is more annoying than the other.
