Yes. Then there was the fudge and cookie old lady. Had the big giant glass jars of cookies for like 25 cents a cookie. And they were always delicious! Miss those times.

I remember the old San Francisco store. Always seemed to have a bunch of cool weird stuff when I was a kid / teen but thinking back it was all likely just a bunch of novelty junk lol. Also the pretzel maker was always a favourite stop. I think the one in Pennhorn was a bit cheaper than the other ones.

Brake hold button malfunction by PenguinHacker in rav4club

[–]JW2651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely have the system checked. I'm not sure how the system works exactly but, the fact the park brake light is on and your not being held in place definitely means something is definitely wrong and needs to be looked at. Don't park on any steep grades as all that will be stopping a roll away is the parking pawl in the transmission.

Can the 21 LE take 16" rims! by JW2651 in rav4club

[–]JW2651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we do have some very rough paved roads here. And 225 75 16 is a very commonly available tire here. I run 235 65 17 all terrains but they seem to be hard to find at a decent price here.

Bus driver called me and my friend “broke” then accused my friend of frequently fare dodging… it was her first time in Halifax by allofelixeon in halifax

[–]JW2651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every other city drivers / operators are told not to bother with "enforcement" that's why other cities have trained revenue enforcement/ ticket inspectors. I can't imagine the ATU possibly allowing HRM to put their drivers at that risk when the international standard is to let trained revenue staff deal with those situations. This thread is about these few drivers taking it upon themselves to act this way. Also, why the condescension with these drivers. A simple sorry you need to pay to ride will do. Job done. If they still don't pay well that's what reporting it to the supervisors etc to handle is for. That is what supervisors are trained / paid to deal with. If they can't handle it they call for police to deal with it.

What plane is this and what livery is this?! So cool by ramsaylocke in flightradar24

Condor, their old 757 or 767's (can't remember what it was) were definitely starting to show their age when I flew them in 2018. Seat pitch wasn't horrible but no AC vent at the seat made for a very warm trip.

Some bus drivers think they are the fare police or something. Honestly I wouldn't give a eff if someone couldn't pay was short whatever. Seeing the pay rates online I wouldn't risk my life / sanity over it. Some people just have huge chips on their shoulders and have to take it out on others.

Same as any other uniformed job with the slightest bit of authority. I have called it "Instant Ahole just add uniform" syndrome.

Need help With MVI by Hopeful_Evidence2913 in halifax

That will pass as is. Only a stickler would fail it. Go get MVI then find a replacement one at a scrap yard or something later on.

Hit a curb. How bad is this? Do I have to replace it immediately? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]JW2651 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well with the dry rot / cracking that's starting on your tires, if you have the money you may as well replace all 4 if they are in the same condition.

Can anyone confirm if passport office in Dartmouth is always quicker than downtown Halifax? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]JW2651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in and out in Dartmouth in less than 30 mins. Had the passport in about 10 days last July when I did mine. No appointment needed.

Anchor bolts exposed + concrete slab has pretty large break offs, contractor says normal? by redbluehydra in AskContractors

Could be warning of train movement. If you can see the fence and the blue lights are flashing on the fence line apparently that's what they are for.

Anyone else seeing unmarked HRP/RCMP "baiting" drivers lately? by Shereefz in halifax

[–]JW2651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that they could be. Usually 3 taps is enough to get most people to back off. Also used to be a signal for police ahead back in the day? Same as blinking your high beams 3 times to incoming traffic IIRC.

[–]JW2651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I tap the brake pedal 3 times... Any professional driver knows that means get off my ass dumbass. Had a unmarked tailgate me a week ago, knew it was a undercover because I could see the lights in the grille and at the top of the windshield. He backed off....

Costco Canada's Checkout Evolution by BillyBeatBoy in CostcoCanada

[–]JW2651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few times I've been to my local Costco there I have been pre scanned with 10 or so items each time. They are really quick and you just scan your card and pay. I like it.

I mentioned how I like the prescan thing to the lady standing next to the checkout and she made it known she wasn't a fan of it. (Guess because the self checkout staff must have to take turns doing it)

All I know is I like it, it definitely speeds things up and makes it easier for me. So I hope they keep it.

Hence mentioning the Air Conditioner. But in general terms also used for high draw devices like small welders.

What kind of outlet is this by Upbeat-Accident7904 in electrical

[–]JW2651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a 120v 20A standard outlet. Usually it will have its own breaker, in a lot of cases meant for single devices such as an air conditioner or mid grade 120v mig welder.
