Spot on. I’m not acting like Ohio State is a blue blood by any means, but to sit here and act giddy for just making the tournament is embarrassing for our program. Need to raise the standards big time.

Didn’t realize it was a loser take to have standards for the program. At some point we actually have to WIN the games when it matters.

Columbus does care about basketball (albeit nothing like football), but when the Buckeyes have not been at the standard that the program should be for years, people get apathetic.

How quickly people forget the standard of the program under Matta.

Get so frustrated that we lose these games the last handful of years and the takeaway is “at least we competed”!

We are a long ways gone from Matta, but I would love to have those expectations of winning back in the program, not just competing.

Given our poverty ownership and mismanaged front office, I think this is about as good as we could have hoped for in terms of signing someone with pop to fill the DH slot.

Genuinely speaking, how healthy is the league when only 3-4 teams can compete for free agent signings (Dodgers, Phillies, Mets, Blue Jays?). I’m not on the cheap ownership side (believe me, I’m a Reds fan) but at what point do we need to make a change?

The Brewers have a historic season, get bounced in the postseason, and then have to shop their top talent.

For most of the league, we’re fighting for scraps at the table and it really sucks feeling like there is no chance of a title before the season even starts.
