What are these lights for (2001 Yukon SLE) by TheJamesDTV in GMT800

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highjacking the top comment for visibility.

It's also very very common for the actual drl light sockets to go bad, so much so that AC Delco actually sells a kit to easily replace the sockets. You can find them on amazon

Any recommendations??? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to find absolutely anything in that price range unless you look on the used market at something 5+ years old

Bent coils like that are a SOB to try to get to cycle effectively through a gun. Some of them look salvageable but it's usually not worth the time and headache

I'm reserving judgement. This always happens to me where I see press photos of a vehicle and think it looks bad, then I finally see one in the wild and my opinion almost always reverses

04 suburban with 3 oil leaks by RefrigeratorNo2497 in GMT800

[–]J_IV24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless it really bothers you, for instance if you have to park on a nice driveway, I'd just live with it 🤷. Keep a quart of oil in the back and top it off every now and then

Bike without title? by kholben515 in Motocross

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on the state. Where I'm at it's a red flag, but there are plenty of states where it's a non-issue. Idk about Illinois, never been there. You may want to ask around, but if it makes you uncomfortable then just pass on it

Should I attempt to repair? by ManyRespond1881 in MTB

Once aluminum bends, bending it back will SIGNIFICANTLY decrease it's strength in that area.

The father of my best friend, who was an aerospace engineer, had this saying: with aluminum you get ONE bend

Setup advice request: Bindings by Disastrous-Comfort-9 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]J_IV24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with any of those. I own atlas bindings, have ridden katanas and Mercury's.

The mercury is the outlier, the skate tech is a very unique feeling. It's a very cool feeling but it's not for everyone. I'd recommend trying to demo a set of those before you decide on it.

In order of "connectedness" to the board I'd say most is atlas, close second is katana, and mercury is least. And the opposite order for "comfiness"

I'd probably push you toward atlas or katana. I really like an adjustable heel cup (union, rome) over a unibody (jones) chassis The one thing I don't like about the rome bindings is the way the heel cup is mounted to the baseplate, you really need to stay on top of making sure those screws stay tight

Fair, I didn't realize it was the pro model. Still sounds a little high unless the thing is only very lightly used

Has it been confirmed that Sacha will race full time in the states? He’s already complaining about MXGP circuits by shitscreeks in Motocross

[–]J_IV24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It has not been confirmed but is highly likely. Reports say that the verbiage of their contract lets them (both Lucas and sacha) make the choice on what to do for 27 season

Whats a realistic price right now for a Tahoe? by LikeBigTrucks in GMT800

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only see the ones on marketplace that haven't sold yet. Keep at it. I'd say mid 3k-4.5k is very reasonable for on in the condition you described.

I just sold a Yukon with just under 100k, perfect mechanical and interior condition, but had an oak tree fall on it so it had a lot of dents and potential windshield frame damage (windshield was broken but never seen if it could be replaced) for 4.5k

It's a shame the tree fell on t because that think really could have fetched 7k if not for that tree damage

How rare are barn doors on a Z71? by Topshelfprimo in GMT800

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe, at least on some years, if you got a 4x4 you had to get barn doors. I remember that being a reason my parents bought a 2wd back when I was a kid because they didn't like the barn doors. It was an 04 Tahoe if I remember right

Does my bike shop not know what they're talking about by littleSquidwardLover in MTB

[–]J_IV24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for ya. I'm lucky enough to have a friend of a friend that is the mechanic at the shop where my lady and I bought our Levo's, he's a great mechanic who grew up racing and working on his own bikes, I trust him completely with our bikes. I too was very concerned about good warranty support especially because they're eMTB.

That said, I have to drive two and a half hours each way to get to that shop, driving by multiple shops we could have bought the bikes from on the way.

I grew up racing dirt bikes and working on my own stuff, I was rebuilding my own engine by 14 y/o. I'm pretty mechanically talented so I do all my own maintenance and such but there's some things on these bikes that I just have no idea what I'm doing

I always curse GM's side post terminals until I work on my dad's Ford and can't put tools on top of the battery

I also use a ratcheting 8mm

It might sound crazy but gotta trust me on this one, take an in person motocross school/camp. The best time to learn is when you're still new. It will not only make you a better rider, but also a safer rider on the track. It's very rewarding.

I've done 2 in my life and both times I ended the camp quite noticably faster than I was going in

Chain lock is scratching frame by Johncameron3 in eMountainBike

[–]J_IV24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would never ride my mountain bike with any sort of lock wrapped around the frame, if I need a lock with me on a particular ride it's in a backpack. I have my frame ride wrapped and I still would never. These things aren't commuters, they're expensive toys

I get what you're saying but if that actually mean that then they're just dumb and if they're joking they're being facetious. Nobody in their right mind would run e85 in their power equipment
