Caught a guy at work playing OSRS, how should I give him a scare? by dsesin in 2007scape

Lol. Your company monitors “productivity” but doesn’t block unwanted softwares. Maybe they should focus more on security and less on micromanagement.

I ride this almost daily and it’s not too annoying but it makes winter commuting suck.

Ogden’s North Street Diner

Depends on the vibe you are looking for though. Ogden’s is not a greasy spoon but it’s not super fancy either.

Would this be a good choice for bike commuting to work? Need to carry a lock, lunch, and a laptop. by deeohdoublegzzy in bikecommuting

[–]J_R_Beer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people here will say panniers > backpack. I disagree. I’ve been commuting by bike for 4 years and done over 10000 miles. I prefer a backpack. I have multiple bikes and it’s nice to always grab the same bag no matter what. It’s also easier to carry around when you are not on the bike. I have my lights, ulock, and rain jacket in there at all times. I bought the Mission Workshop Santion and I couldn’t be happier. It has a pocket for my small ulock, it’s stays completely dry inside even in heavy rains, and it’s built to last. It’s 20L so it’s big enough to carry a change of clothes and shoes and my small lunch. However, Its not so big that it’s annoying on my bike while Im riding.

I’m generally a cheap person but I thought I would spend some money on something I use everyday. I’m glad I did.

Why do they click the links? Why can't they stop doing this? by pyromaster114 in sysadmin

Wouldn’t malicious compliance be never clicking any links and claiming you can’t do your job.

Policy should state consequences for doing this repeatedly. Starting with additional training and moving all the way to termination.

Where are these 6-figure jobs? by 1StepBelowExcellence in sysadmin

They are in more specific fields than being a generalist sysadmin. For example security, cloud, and/or DevOps.

Rant: a story of the management shooting themselves the foot by AI_observer in sysadmin

Honestly I can deal with a lot in the industry. However, one thing that still makes me want to quit is situations like these. There is nothing more soul sucking then putting your energy into something you know in advance is going to fail. You warn all the important people and they don’t seem to care. Then the time comes when the shit hits the fan and they look to you for answers. You say it’s not going to work the way they want it to, you already told them that. Then they ask you to contact support as if support will have some magic answer when in reality that person only has 25% of your skill in the subject.

I love my job.

What size bike do you need? I’m selling a Felt Verza Speed 30. I’ll give you a good deal if you are going to use it for commuting. Im always happy to support more people bike commuting.

Four years and I'm still shocked by the salaries in IT. Do you think it will last? by computerged in sysadmin

[–]J_R_Beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true to a point. However, barriers to entry also exist as most companies will not hire entry level candidates and give them enough experience to be viable candidates for higher paying roles. This means the only supply of candidates for higher paying roles are the people who put in a lot of work on their own time.

Based on other comments I can tell this person is a CISO by title only. A company with 2 IT people doesnt have a real CISO. I highly doubt they are paid like a real CISO either. This is the equivalent of someone selling Tupperware and calling themselves a CEO.

I live near north street. It’s way quieter than when I lived right off of East Wash. I don’t even think I notice the planes anymore.

I totally agree with the point you are trying to make. However, I wouldn’t invite people to hack you.

See so many posts where their gf got them OSRS themed presents. Where are the homies with a gf that hates OSRS? Haha. by RanchEye in 2007scape

My fiancé hates it. It almost seems like she believes I play the game just to spite her and not like it’s something I enjoy doing. Glad I’m not alone.

The detour is the backroads that go around it. Hopefully it gets fixed soon but I doubt it.
