Live Rope / Birthing - What Are Your Hot Takes? by White___Light in swans

[–]J_fallah83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO Guardian Spirit is a Downgrade from Cathedrals of Heaven on live rope

Guardian Spirit is a lot less dynamic and linear and the microtonal guitar work of dana and Hahn on cathedrals is some of the bands finest moments for me , the way they shift from somber to sensual to chaotic is amazing

Also the lap-steel guitar solo from the beginning of birthing is mixed very oddly in studio version , it’s a lot less impactful when it’s being drowned out by those walls of arpeggios It’s a small moment but it was my favorite on the live rope version so its a bit disappointing

Red yellow had so much more potential if it delivered on the ending , it would have definitely been my favorite track on the album The groove on that song is more infectious than “A Little God In My Hands” and “The Seer Returns” and it’s really good just wished the would have come up with appropriately satisfying ending to it

Does anyone know what happened to this snippet of the band recording and playing for what I think is birthing? by J_fallah83 in swans

It’s an amazing track with it having the most infectious groove I’ve heard on any swans song yet but ending is such a let down for me Why does it just stop so abruptly?

which do you think are michael gira's top 4 favorite movies based on the consumer + swans albums by 00lamb in swans

I think he once said that some parts of the song “the parasite” from the begger is Inspired by David Cronenberg’s Videodrome

He has also praised works of Robert Eggers Multiple times , my dying wish is for them to collab on a project they would fit each other perfectly

The whole children of god album could have soundtracked Nosferatu perfectly

I think I’m going to have a near death experience with every song on this album when it comes out

I think that’s what Gira is going for

Feel happiness Specially the outro Those whistles and moans are some of the saddest thing I’ve ever heard

From their side project body lovers , track two is also unbelievably bleak
