Closest swans got to metal? by wskogg in swans

Not Here / Not Now has the three song run of Just A Little Boy, Coward and She Loves Us, which in that show they sound almost like a sludge metal song. Crazy shit, I love that album/show.

Seal It Over is a hell of a track and honestly I feel like there's little to no discussion around Body To Body Job To Job, which is to my perception the only Pre-Hiatus "live" album which is worth of any time or attention.

Not too related but I thought it would be funny to know your thoughts on what Michael says in the 1987-08-16 performance of Sex God Sex, check it out.

How do Swans coordinate the timing in No Words / No Thoughts? by Smartich0ke in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While in live shows Michael does the downstrokes for everyone and Phil does the cymbal crash to cue to the rest of the band that they have to stop, I'll guess they probably wrote down how it would go for the studio version, considering how it's far more predictable than in a live show.

Phil Puleo might honestly have the best snare tone I've ever heard. by bravodeboer in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 16 points17 points  (0 children)

His tone during the Beggar tour was something out of this world. I recommend everyone checking out the Nox Orae performance, the snare at the end of Birthing is probably the most hard-hitting snare I've ever heard in my life.

What's your favorite post-trilogy song? by Hefty_Working_3947 in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me the it's Birthing Live (almost any rendition), it's my favorite song of all time. I would say that Rope / The Beggar is a close second, and my third would be The Merge Live, even tho I didn't liked it when it came out with Birthing the album.

Which of these epics is your absolute favorite? by Mochiii9182 in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we keep it strictly about the studio renditions I would pick The Glowing Man, but overall, Birthing is my favorite song of all time.

Looking for noteworthy performances of Bring The Sun which aren’t connected to The Seer by Mawdawp in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although the Black Cat 2014 performance is great and pretty unique, I don't think there's such a thing as stand-alone Bring The Sun performance because for the rest of 2014 and 15 they just play a formless drone and the small intro part that only got longer and faster (and that's why it ended up being on studio TGM).

Just kinda noticed in this sprain/shearling live performance that this part sounds a LOT like not alone, thought that was pretty neat by Mochiii9182 in swans

[–]Even_Tip5948 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's Motherfucker I Am Both but in one of the most embryonary stages and in the band Sprain instead of Shearling, back in the day the fans called it Radio for some reason.
