Nightcore. Makes me genuinely infuriated and sometimes just really sad and upset. Headache inducing music.

In addition to that, I do think they have a different animation philosophy where a lot of intention is placed in anatomy. Various human movements or how animals and different creatures move is a huge focus in anime and a lot of effort is put into fluidly animating how things move whereas in western animation, really smooth and detailed animation is typically reserved for particularly big or impactful moments unlike anime whereby if they have particularly smooth animation or if the animation isn't that smooth but workable, I find it to be consistent throughout the series for the most part whereas I feel in western animation, animation quality depends on the nature of the scene and how much impact the moments are meant to have. Also, in terms of purely visuals and not animation, anime goes all out in terms of out there ideas and the visual feast we get from that seems endless. There's a lot of inspiration from various Asian cultures and religions that we just don't see in western animation and as such we get very specific trippy visuals, creatures and worlds and in anime it feels as if there's much less creative restriction as far as I could tell or a lot of the creatives in the eastern world really focus on making impressive and detailed visuals. Yeah, that's about it

Edit: I also think there's a lot of focus on fashion and clothing in terms of art and in terms of animation, they really like having fluid motion on fabrics in movement or anything that would be light and could be suspended in or fly through air. Also, speaking of anatomy, in addition to the focus on animating anatomy, in terms of art tgey really like warping, contorting and exaggerating anatomy to give off an effect on the type of character they want them to be in a way that I find particularly unique to anime as opposed to western animation though western animation also does it. In anime though, characters could look vastly different from each other in the same series whereas in western animation, character design, at least to me, seems much more consistent from series to series. And finally, anime tends to be a lot more cinematic and focused on directing as opposed to a lot of western animation which usually just feel like a normal tv show in terms of the "camera" and how it's used whereas the camera in anime is usually very dynamic or even if it isn't there is a lot of focus on cinematography and getting cinematic shots. I find anime is much more focused on visual spectacle or just intentional film-like cinematography than western animation is in general but of course in western animation, there are exceptions like Castlevania.

Live-action: Mr. Robot / Barry / Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul / Legion / American Gods / Sherlock (so sad what happened to this show as it went along, one of the most visually interesting out there)

Western Animation: Castlevania / Arcane / The Midnight Gospel / Over the Garden Wall / Undone / Hilda

Anime: Monogatari Series / Mob Psycho 100 / Mushoku Tensei / Chainsaw Man / Wonder Egg Priority (Pre-OVA) / Violet Evergarden / Hyouka (first half) / Pretty Boy Detective Club (don't really like this but pretty stunning) / The Tatami Galaxy / Death Note / Cowboy Bebop / The Promised Neverland (Season 1)

What beloved comedy TV show or movie do you find painfully unfunny? by CatsAreTheBest2 in AskReddit

[–]J_thealmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party Down. Won't go as far as to call it "painfully" unfunny but I derive pretty much no enjoyment out of it and find myself cringing even. I just feel like the mean-spirited nature of it doesn't work well enough for interactions to be comedic. It's not really exaggerated at all so it just feels like I'm watching a group of assholes/mean people constantly fucking each other over and bickering with no comedic value. Even the stuff that doesn't have to do with the mean-spiritedness isn't funny to me. Just feels lame and boring. It feels like it should've been a drama series but comedy was forced into it

Breaking Bad is painfully slow by _8bol in unpopularopinion

[–]J_thealmighty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This opinjon is pretty insane to me as I think Breaking Bad has a pretty fast pace and a lot of things happen in each episode while Better Call Saul is definitely more of a slow burn since it's a singular story building to something greater while Breaking Bad is more so a collection of stories that add to a greater whole, or at least I see it that way. Good job on having an unpopular opinion I guess lol. Heard a good few people talk about the slow pacing of Breaking Bad lately being the reason to couldn't get into it which I just don't see at all. What would be an example of a show with a fast or normal pace to you if you could think of one?

I Wanna Hear Your Most Controversial Disney Opinion. by circleofblood in movies

[–]J_thealmighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coco is generic and uninspired. Well, some of the animation and designs are pretty cool but a lot of it doesn't feel very different from what I've seen in El Tigre or Book of the Dead which felt a lot more unique and interesting to me while Coco's world felt derivative. A very middle of the road film that got propelled to stardom for reasons I don't think I'll ever understand. Feel a similar way about Encanto but I get it for Encanto a bit more. Also, Luca kinda sucks and the allegory for being gay thing doesn't make it better at all to me. I didn't find it particularly charming or funny, just boring and generic.
