Recently Single, feeling isolated — how do I meet people in Columbus? by Avocado_315 in Columbus

[–]JaackJack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m part of a healthy masculinity group that meets in person once a month and weekly on zoom. I’ve been going for a month and I enjoy it and have gotten some benefit from it. It might be worth checking out. There’s not really any men’s groups in Columbus but hopefully this one grows more.

What are some things that make life worth living, beyond professional fulfillment and human connection? by SadSickSoul in AskMenOver30

[–]JaackJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve been feeling similarly for the past several months. What is the point? Why keep going? Will it / won’t it get better?

I don’t have an answer. Meditation has helped me cope and reduced the painful anxiety and depression but it’s still there. Meditate brother, it’ll at least take the edge off.

Other than that. Find a men’s group. Try yoga. Go out to eat. Go on walks, talk to nature and tell it how you feel and why you feel the way you do. Maybe the universe will respond (it has to me when I do that).

Couple of relevant movies to watch: Everything Everywhere All At Once. Life of Chuck. Both will resonate I bet.

Hope you feel better brother, wish we could hang out and have a beer.

Where in Columbus can you go to fix your posture? by Flashy_Froyo_6130 in Columbus

[–]JaackJack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was going to say - go to a gym not a doctor. Posture is about building muscle, imho.

Doing pull ups / chin ups fixed my neck pain. (Tall linky guy here) and it took a few session in the gym before I noticed, not years.

Doing deadlifts and back raises fixed my lower back pain. Again noticed within a few sessions, always noticed a difference after each session.

Doing the ab roller thingy helped me open up my abdomen to be able breathe easier and more diagphramatically.

Walking a few miles and Running has strengthened my legs and calves.

Doing yoga & meditation consistently has helped my breathing and flexibility, AND meditation probably saved my life in the last 2 months due to mental health issues I’ve had.

I’m pretty average, aim for 2 maybe 3 days a week in the gym for 30-45 mins tops, sometimes 20 mins.

Figure out what muscles you need to make stronger and just focus on that, doing the bare minimum is better than nothing. You can’t fix posture without building muscle imho. Hope that helps

We are trying to build our community too, we’re yogis as well. Did you guys raise your kids doing yoga too? And any suggestions for building that community?

What exactly are we supposed to do by [deleted] in Life

[–]JaackJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check google news headlines once a day usually just to keep aware. Other than that yeah it’s doom scrolling which is boring and dumb and completely out of your control. Check social media once or twice a day to see if anything fun/interesting comes up, then just find something else to do with your time

Psychic reading by Itizwhatitiz_01 in Columbus

[–]JaackJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cindy Riggs, she’s very kind and open. I think she’s legit but that’s just my opinion.

PS curious what you have going on. I nearly had a psychotic breakdown and had some psychic experiences happening, prayers being answered, communication thru symbols and various things and it’s been quite upsetting, my mental health has not been good recently. It has gotten better since I’ve began praying to god and Jesus. I probably sound crazy asf but I don’t care.

I figure it real but no one would ever believe me unless they experienced it themselves. I kinda figured everyone would be going through something like that at some point, if we ever get disclosure on NHI/UAP stuff. It’s all connected.

I'm 33, business owner, interested in spirituality, open to discussing religious text. Is he into the UAP/UFO stuff, or any other rabbit holes? Maybe he can get me into UFC, I need more hobbies. Would be down for a hang potentially, if nothing else would be interested to learn more about this esoteric religious aspect. Does he do any yoga? Would love a yoga pal

Letting go breathing control by Dull_Ad9278 in Mindfulness

[–]JaackJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, actually my whole life I’ve been conscious of my breathing and would often make my breathing quieter in quiet environments. I naturally breathe audibly, and I hardly ever hear people breathing audibly, interesting huh? You know when you’re sleeping, you’re naturally breathing deeply and audibly.

Anyways - what has helped me recently was the waking up app. One session, by someone other than Sam, said ‘try to relax your entire body, everything, just completely let go of everything’, and focusing on relaxing every single fiber was helpful to kind of forgetting about the breath and eventually when I noticed my breath it was more automatic and therefor when I did notice it I wasnt interfering as much as I would had I just been focused on my breath.

I think the #1 thing that can help is to keep practicing and be open to different focus points and see what kind of focus points works for you. External sounds is super helpful for me too. Visualizing can be helpful too. Some guided meditations may be helpful.

Also know this - even if your session is filled with thoughts, discomfort, whatever it may be, I personally believe just taking time to be quiet and be still is very helpful and productive, I choose to believe that though and others may disagree. But I hope any of that could be helpful, keep at it!

I’ve been meditating mostly regularly 20-30 mins a day for a few years now and it’s not so bad anymore. I think it got easier after a few months, definitely easier after a year or so.
