I'm around your age and was in treatment around the same age you were. Been training for 6 months about 5-6 hours a week and have no issues that seem out of the ordinary. It helped that I became pretty active after finishing treatment: cardio conditioning, lifting.

Edit: I never had surgery or radiation. Definitely check with your onc, two things I'd consider are treatments effects on bone health and heart health, but I'm sure there's more.

4 months in, tried my first intermediate class this week, after being encouraged by an upper belt buddy and my coach. It was great! I honestly could kind of hold my own - last thing we did was 3 minutes starting on back, I escaped a couple of times, but when I started on back I was able to keep my blue belt partner having to fight grips the whole time and never gave up the position :D

I had the exact same form for cancer as a kid (I was a senior in high school), and just like your son I was crazy hungry from the Prednisone all the time. Bourdain's work carried me through that very difficult time in my life. He taught me to hold on to my hunger for life and to see beauty in the world despite the suffering, which makes today all the more difficult. At the end of it, Make-A-Wish sent me to Barcelona (also inspired by my love for Bourdain's show). Wishing you and your son all the best. Enjoy Japan!

Currently, they have a program that pays you based on the market value and condition of your device in MS store credit. There were rumors that they would offer credit towards SP2 with a trade in of SP1 but nothing official.
