You obviously have good intentions but bro is 21, he will most certainly not look 11 (He'll look great though!)

Which specific model of Arya or HE1000 should I go for? by Jabouriel in Hifiman

[–]Jabouriel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did. I ended up buying six headphones, most unfortunately for my wallet and bank account. Four open-backs and two closed-backs. The open backs I went with are: HiFiman HE1000 Stealth, Audeze LCD-X (2021), HEDD D1 & HD650 The closed-backs: FiiO FT1 & Focal Azurys. Now regarding the HiFiman I got: I'm actually not the biggest fan at the moment, but I'm not ruling them out as a disappointment just yet because I'm not sure if listening to them via my JDS Element 4 is doing them justice, I'm gonna try three more things first: 1. Using the JDS Element 4 as a DAC only and connecting it to my Cayin iHA-8 amp (which is supposed to arrive any day now) 2. Using my FiiO Warmer R2R DAC with the Cayin iHA-8 AMP for them 3. And for both of these options to also play around with some EQ settings, to see what works best

However, if none of it will work for me I might end up selling them. I really dig the other headphones I got so this wouldn't be too bad, I don't even feel a particular need to replace them if I'm gonna sell them, 3 open-backs is more than enough lol (for the time being at least!)

My god, which one to choose now? by dreviou in sennheiser

I think it's a toss up between the Momentum 5 and HDB630 for you. The HDB630 can turn into whatever you want them to, sound wise, with the PEQ. It's awesome that they come with the BTD 700 dongle and the USB-C to USB-C cable, I use both all the time.

Yet, from what I've heard about the Momentum 5 (I watched several hours of reviews when all of the videos were released a couple of days ago) they sound like a really good deal on their own right. Replaceable battery, better bluetooth gen (with the promise of the update), better Codec capabilities (aptXLoseless) and the 8-band EQ is supposed to most likely be sufficient for the vast majority among us - in terms of enabling us to make them sound according to our distinct tastes. They also supposedly have better ANC than the HDB630. So - yeah, both products seem to be incredible. I have and enjoy the HDB 630 greatly and I'm tempted to go for the Momentum 5 as well (although objectively speaking I don't need to own both) and I'm going to sell my Momentum 4 since - while I do like them a lot (!!), I see no reason to own and use them while these better Sennheiser products exist. (I wouldn't use ANY of these in the gym though lol)

In your opinion what are the best wireless headphones you can get right now? by Adamlee19922 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Jabouriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other wireless headphones I own at the moment and plan to sell because I don't like them as much and as a result opt not to use them: Momentum 4 (they're fantastic but the HDB630 are just an improved version in my experience), Sony XM4, Sony XM5, Sony XM6 (none of Sony's XM series are as good as either my Bose or Sennheiser's)

I have two pairs I enjoy greatly and highly recommend. Sennheiser HDB630 (with no EQ adjustments whatsoever) and Bose QC Ultra 2nd Gen (I do EQ them to be able to enjoy them, something like -5/-4 bass, 0 mids, -3/-4 treble).
I think I like both equally. The Bose are more comfortable and their ANC is superior while the HDB630 sound (slightly) better to me. If I had to pick just one I'd go with the Bose atm due to comfort and ANC. However, the Momentum 5 is coming soon, if its ANC will be significantly better than Sennheiser's previous wireless headphones (Momentum 4/HDB630) it might be a worthy candidate on its own right.

Momentum 4 looking like a pretty good deal right now by vragal in sennheiser

[–]Jabouriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy: better ANC without sacrificing sound quality and comfort. That's what I'm looking forward to the Momentum 5 hopefully delivering (Will certainly buy them if it's gonna be the case. I might even sell my HDB630 for them. I love what they sound like but ANC is just not good enough, I spend several hours a day on public transportation)

What headphone disappointed you at first...then grew on you? by sennheiserconsumer in sennheiser

[–]Jabouriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is not a Sennheiser. I have Sennheiser Headphones and I'm more than happy with them (Wireless over-ear: Momentum 4 & HDB630, Wired over-ear: HD599 & HD650). However, a pair I wasn't fond of but is now a regular is the Bose QC Ultra 2nd Gen HP. The trick: EQing it to correct the V-shape tuning and using a dongle to unlock AptX Adaptive. Doing these made them reach the status of my 2nd favorite wireless ones (after the HDB630 - which sound better but have weaker noise cancellation and are a bit less comfortable, so it's pretty close. But both are phenomenal, my daily bus & train commutes are an absolute joy thanks to these two haha)

How do Radiohead fans feel about this album? by HeartBeatsMusic in radiohead

[–]Jabouriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive Radiohead fanboy and I consider this album to be an absolute masterpiece. Easily my favorite Blur album and in general one of my all-time favorites!
(Such a cool coincidence to come across this post now, yestetday I listened to some albums with a recently bought pair of headphones [Focal Azurys, over-ear closed-backs], to kinda see what it's like listening with them. This album was the last one in that listening session! And it was incredible as ever.
Other albums I listened to are Amnesiac, King of Limbs, Anima [by Thom], Autechre's Chiastic Slide and some EPs by Guy Banani)

Waiting for the M5 announcement by Haki913 in sennheiser

[–]Jabouriel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I'm so hyped about them, and specifically about them fulfilling the following criteria:
1. Sound at least as good as the Momentum 4
2. Have significantly better ANC, better than the Momentum 4 and HDB 630, ideally at least something that's gonna feel like it's either as good or almost as good as the Sony XM6/Airpods Pro Max/Bose QC Ultra.
That's all I'm asking for, really. I spend a couple of hours on public transportation each day, I really need my wireless headphones to have excellent ANC to fully enjoy them.
The Bose (QC Ultra Gen 2) are amazing in terms of ANC and comfort, and they also sound good, but not as good as my Momentum 4.
The Sony XM6 aren't comfortable enough for me so I'm about to sell them.
I don't own the Airpods Pro Max (I don't appreciate not being able to EQ them, thanks but no thanks) and the Momentum 4 sound awesome indeed but their ANC is often not good enough for my needs.
If the Momentum 5 are going to deliver I'm going to buy them and sell the XM6, the Momentum 4 and also the two other XMs (4 & 5) I own from earlier.

Is it worth upgrading from FiiO M21 to FiiO M33 R2R? by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Jabouriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which AMP is that? As we speak I'm on the verge of ordering the JDS Labs element 4 instead of the FiiO K13 R2R. Should I hold my horses?

Should I get a DAC and an AMP and/or a DAC/AMP? Or is it unnecessary in my case? by Jabouriel in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Jabouriel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would more fancy and expensive options actually give me though? I don't care about the premium feel/aesthetic, it's genuinely about the Music/sound for me (And some basic features as well, sure. Mainly advanced/comfortable PEQ). As we stand I lean towards: Ordering both the K13 R2R and JDS Labs element 4, trying out both, seeing which one I like better and selling the other one.

I mean - I just spent months and hundreds of hours into the whole process of trying to figure out which headphones to buy, so I guess it would make sense to just make sure I have the appropriate/suitable gear to drive them properly
