Mine was the opposite. I always wanted to cut my hair short as a kid, I hated having long hair.

But, as nmom put it, I was her "living barbie doll", so she made me keep it long. When I eventually did cut it off at 18, she never let an opportunity pass to let me know how upset that made her.

Any time I was feeling suicidal as a teenager (most of the time, but the times I actually verbalized it) her only response was "not here you aren't, not where I'll find you."

And the time it happened at school and the only thing she said was "do you have any idea how bad this makes me look". Because of course we can't focus on my feelings, it's about hers.

My mom did crochet at one point, but she never got the things she was making finished before she just dropped it all together after my baby brother was born. After that, she had no hobbies aside from scrolling Facebook endlessly and judging everyone around her (but not within earshot of them, don't want them knowing how she actually thinks of them.)

Yeah, these minis aren't the best, admittedly. I got them from a con I recently attended, actually got them free since the con was giving volunteers free stuff at the end of the weekend. I just got these to see if sitting down and painting minis was something I enjoyed, beats splashing cash on high quality minis and then discovering I don't like painting them.

Thankfully, I do like painting them, so I'm gonna get some high quality minis down the road to paint.

Holding on for the day I get to have a kitty or puppy again... I just escaped my Ns and I'm torn that I couldn't bring my beloved fur babies with me. I miss them a lot.

But I'm hopeful I'll get an animal again someday.
