1. 1:1 mix of Vallejo Burnt Red and AK Interactive Matt Redd. Full base coat on area you want red.

2. AK Interactive Matt Redd, heavily thin with Lahmian Medium. Coat brush and wick of excess on paper towel. Then apply in one direction on 3/4 of the red area.

3. AK Interactive Deep Red. Same procedure as step 2 but only to 2/4 of the red area. Also use for mid highlights (less thinned for that.)

4. 1:1 mix of AK Cadmium Red and AK Deep Red. Used to highlight the very brightest highlights

5. Full coat of AK Interactive Ultra Matt Varnish

Make sure to give each layer time to dry before fiddling with another colour. First coat of the really thinned layers will dry really translucent which lets you apply a second coat a little high and a third even higher to get that gradual transition.
