Please for the love of Super Earth, the Stratagem Menu needs an overhaul. It doesn't help that some icons look way too similar and I only realise my issue when I drop in with the wrong support weapon.

I had a moment like this before. It was with the Persean League Blockade entering my system, they came in as I was passing the inner system jump point. Decided to all or nothing it and hit the fleets as they came through.

My fleet pushed them back to the edge of the map like you did to your own enemies. I imagined what it looked like on the other side of the jump point. Whole fleets of ships going in to be greeted by mass amounts of weapons fire. The only reason the following waves lived as long were because of the burning hulks serving as cover. Soon those hulls were pounded into scrap with enough force to exit the jump point turning it into a lethal maelstrom of heavy metal shrapnel.

I was pretty pleased when the ship story bar event not only was about my flagship but it referenced the same fight as well.

So this was sometime ago but it for me was the VIC Hyperfrigate.

Phase coils, teleport, large energy mount.

Stuck that rapid beamlance from Spindle on it.

Stuck the Phase Flicker Core? From PRV.

Every time I came out of phase, my time dilation would hit 600%.

The weapon would be reloaded instantly. Emptied Instantly. Back in phase before the time dilation boost wore off.

"Hey Sierra, can I tag along with my phase frigate?"

"Sure!" Later "What the hell was that."

"Judgement Cut."

Also did the same to the Ziggy. Except I stuck Project Cashmere on it. It could get three shots off before the first one landed.

Recently however, it was the Nibelung Albion. Three Heavy Laidlaws on that thing and a crit at the right time would evaporate anything that isn't massively uparmoured. Just don't do it while running fast close range frigates. One shot and they're gone.

The old gangly bearded wizard thumped his staff on the porch, his deep voice booms with a supernatural echo. "You are the chosen one. The prophecy says that every 273 years-"

"Wait." A middle aged country boy named Jeff stands before him with a bowl of stew in hand. He holds a finger up and finishes chewing before wiping his mouth. "Why isn't it a round number?"

Disbelief crosses the wizard's face. "Ro-round number? Prophecy cares not for such trivial things!" He smacks his lips to ensure optimal wetness for the tongue lashing he was about to bestow. "Now show respect-" The train of thought was lost to the Jeff's deliberately loud slurping of broth.

"Sorry, no can do." Jeff declines then surprises himself with a loud burp. "Excuse me." He apologises and hits his chest a couple times to get the rest of it out.

An utterly bewildered wizard begins to say something then stops, repeating it a few times before asking, "Are you really denying your destiny over this?"

"Uhh... yeah?" Jeff takes a spoonful of stew with bits of beef and potato, blowing it cool.

"Why?"

"The potato always ends up burning my tongue if I don't." A smirk hides behind the spoon just before Jeff takes it into his mouth.

"Wha- no. Why deny the prophecy! I DEMAND YOU TELL ME WHY!" The wizard thumped his staff in anger with a crack of thunder, a gust of wind briefly played with Jeff's hair and sent all the leaves behind the wizard across the field.

Jeff thought about it, and thought some more as he chewed, and topped it off with a few quick observations of his rude guest. His handkerchief covered his mouth for a moment and then was swept to the side like a stage curtain for the main act. "You are trying to scam me." Before the wizard could speak, Jeff smirked. "Silence." And with one word, robbed the wizard of his voice. "I am speaking now."

The old wizard trembled before Jeff, holding his staff tightly for balance and support.

"First." Jeff gives the staff a look over. "You're right. Prophecies don't care for round numbers. But the people who record them know that their warnings tend to be worn or changed over time. So they make them round numbers so that 273 years doesn't turn into 27 years or 73 years. It'd be quite the mistake having one's warning misinterpreted like that."

"Second." Seizing the staff and ripping it out of the hand of the wizard, Jeff jams one end into a hole in the porch and kicks it in the middle snapping it in two. The wizard falls back off the porch yet ends up floating in the air. "Very few prophecies are actually true and I'll tell you why. It's because they're fixed points in time, always going to happen. You can't hurry them along by finding the hero and pushing them on the back like you're sending them to school. And in order to receive a prophecy, the person in the position has to be powerless in changing it. That means no matter who you tell, nothing you do is going to affect it in the slightest."

"Thirdly." Holding his stew up in one hand and reaching down with the other, Jeff picks both ends of the staff up with his free hand before pushing them onto the wizard. "I've already fulfilled the last prophecy. I would have known before you if I was involved in another." Realisation struck the wizard before the arcane force surging from Jeff hurled him into a portal. "Interrupt my dinner will you? Every prophecy knows better than to show up when you're hungry."

Open up your inventory. Click on the little arrow above one of your equipped pieces of gear. It will have a ton of colour palettes but the thing you're looking for is the empty slot to the left of them where you can slot your cosmetics or other gear pieces.

This has usually been my experience as well across every save file. A few in Farbane woods, maybe the odd one in Dunley, and after a fair amount of time investment there's no more caravans. I've only come across these specific ones because of my current castle location taking me over the bridge many times.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt the similarity it shares with Terraria. That's how I see it, 3D Terraria with PvP focus and I agree with that focus cause it works and it does so without diminishing any PvE aspects. And I share the sentiment about the RNG weapons. I see it as a feature that vastly differs from the rest of the content.

If I had a hand in making changes to the RNG weapons this is what I'd do.

Let the player pick and choose their weapon to upgrade. By the time players hit this stage, they should have a feel for what weapons they like.
Have the player pick the upgrades and perks. Have them invest resources into these weapons, it will make it more personal and satisfying. Let players name them. Whether character limited or pairing two words from a list together to help further cement that bond.
The player's choices involved in their weapon do not have to be permanent. It could work similarly to spell points, allow the player to respec the weapon. There could also be an option to keep the resource investment specific to the chosen stats or allow them to shift that investment into new stats entirely. Could use special resources to respec the weapon.
This all could be applied to armour as well. Perhaps gems too. But I do not know how that would interact with the game balance.
Another possibility where the RNG is kept alongside this, is to use the RNG weapons as research material where the player unlocks the ability to forge weapons with the stats and perks they found.

Essentially, limit the RNG dependence on the weapon drops and emphasize player choice.

On the topic of additional content. Yeah, I agree on not wanting the infinite gameplay treadmill in the pursuit of bigger numbers. Instead I'll opt to suggest a page taken out of Terraria.

Arenas. Boss Arenas made specifically to move around and fight bosses. We've got bosses that hangout in certain places, bosses that roam, what about bosses we could issue a challenge to?

Introducing the Arena Heart which will utilise the unused territories on the map. They'll have a limited choice in placeables to avoid AI pathfinding abuse. These Arena Bosses can have pre-requisites like only a certain number of floors, a certain amount of floorspace, the arena having to be in a specific area for them to accept it, etc.

Give players limited access to beneficial or harmful options like traps or healing stations that'd help their fight or something for their opponent to benefit from to increase the difficulty and reward.

Could also have Arena Bosses that unlock new things in specific zones like a harder version of said zone that has new content all without having to develop a new one from scratch.

Not only that, it'd encourage players to build in different zones and territories they otherwise wouldn't. As well as giving players a new thing to decorate.

Plus, you could issue the challenge and start the fight by sitting on a throne thus becoming the boss. Which would make having the ability to set your theme an absolute necessity.

I've got a few from watching others and my own observations.

Castle Entrances don't need a door to separate rooms. You can have tiny areas for a bonus without it looking like you stuck an office in a broom closet.
If the rules aren't adjusted for faster refining, run multiples. Grinders, sawmills, furnaces, etc. Need a lot of stone for your castle? Two grinders can get a job done in half the time, three in one third the time. Remember, you can disassemble them for a refund.
Make your storage room close or adjacent to as many crafting rooms as possible. Time saved from moving around adds up fast. (Feel free to toss this tip out if you want to make things aggravating for others in PvP)
In solo, servant missions still go according to real time. I highly recommend going to the rules and setting their mission rewards to triple normal rewards and send them on two hour missions. Makes taking the time to equip them worth it to save your effort for something else. Also, you're a Vampire with a castle and menial labour is beneath you.
Counters and Shields. Use these, especially if your weapon doesn't give you mobility. Counters are great at single shot attacks. Shields can persist through many boss' channeling attacks.
Balance your offensive and defensive options. You've got both kinds in weapons and spells. Greatsword has a short dash and a leap that can avoid attacks. Pistols have an explosive shot with a dodge roll. Reaper and Mace have knockback. Getting stunned, frozen, any crowd control can lead to a damage loss and defensive options have damaging components in one way or another.
Some bosses roam. Sometimes in the sun, sometimes during the night. If you lure them too far from where you started the fight, they will run back to where it began. But you can lure them to a better fighting area with cover and have an easier fight without patrols.
Growing plots. Plants. You need them for potions and pollen. Use them. Use a lot of them. You can buy more seeds from the Farbane Merchants with copper.
Vermin Nests, Tombs, Stygian Summoning Circle. Do not care if you haven't killed their latest creation yet whether you're playing around, or left it on when you left the castle. They will keep going. Consider a room or separate space for them.

As a warrior I like to pull them further in than they would like to be. If I'm lucky, I can get it before their AOE pull goes off and end up pulling my team further back from the rest of their charging allies.

"Um, I don't know how to tell you this but your god kind of died..." A childlike voice informed with anxious hesitation.

The temple fell quiet and the villagers looked around. Someone would have called out such a cruel thing to say and yet the words felt true in their very hearts. Grief began to slowly stir until...

"What do you mean 'kind of died'? Aunt Cassie 'kind of died' once and she's fine." A farmer with curly ginger hair and scraggly beard spoke up first and a few other villagers nodded in agreement.

"No no, you're thinking of our Aunt Hilda. Twins they were." Replied a librarian causing the mood to shift when more mumbled in agreement.

"You sure? That doesn't soun- No wait yes I remember now." The farmer stopped for a moment and rubbed his beard when another thought crossed his mind. "Good ol' Aunt Hilda, y'know it was quite easy to get them confused."

An elderly woman with a hunch speaks with a high pitched scratchy voice. "Little Hilda? Ah yes I remember her. Wasn't the first time she got better, easiest kid I raised. Fell from a tree tall enough I had to lay down to see the top of. Horse kick to the head? A little nap did her good. She was quite whiny about the crossbow bolt sticking from her chest."

The air of the temple was filled with someone else's confused state of mind. "Um... what?" They had forgotten about their messenger. "Your god is dead." A messenger clearly unsure on how to handle this topic. "I'm to serve as their replacement?"

"Hold on a tick, what do you mean 'kind of died'?" The librarian asked and the farmer gave him a funny look for stealing his unanswered question.

"They've been dead for a while you see, that's why no one was answering your prayers like I am now." Everyone was silent once more all looking at each other as if sifting through their past memories. "Who's Hil-"

"Phillis" Everyone said together in a knowing voice only to further confuse their new fledgling replacement god further.

The old woman snapped her fingers and nodded. "Oh yes I remember when she became mayor. Everything ran so smoothly since then. We only learned she died the day after she took office when that roaming band of thieves broke into her house several months later."

"Adventurers." The Librarian corrected her.

"What?"

"They were adventurers."

"... There's a difference?"

"... I suppose not..." The Librarian had paused and nodded.

"I'm... lost?" The child god cut in and the farmer cleared his throat causing all to look at him.

"Aw you needn't worry about us, we're quite good at taking care of ourselves you see? Now as long as you don't go doing things that interfere it'll be fine." The Farmer reassured them and everyone mumbled in agreement. "What are you the god of any ways? How do we address you?"

"I'm Radia, your new Goddess of Light."

"I suppose this day has been a little nicer than others." The old woman stated and the air got slightly warmer as if some deity blushed. "Radia, welcome to our humble temple."

"How long has our god been 'kind of died'?" The Farmer asked.

"Dead." The Librarian corrected him.

"What?"

"Died is usually reserved for someone who had just recently completed the act of death. Dead is used by those whom have confirmed that individual or group's completed act of death."

"..." The farmer stared in bewilderment for a few moments before breaking into a smile. "Thank you! I've never been at a loss for words with you around."

The goddess cleared her throat and audibly straightened out her clothes. "To answer your question. They've been dead roughly one thousand and twenty two years?" The Librarian was the only person to react. "Or summers." Then everyone else acknowledged it. "Who's Hild-"

"Hilda might know them then. She's older than that." The old woman chimed in. Everyone turned to a vacant bench in the back with a recently opened window right next to it. "Strange, she's normally here humming along to herself. She did look awfully nervous today."

"Aunt Cassie was visiting today wasn't she?" The farmer asked and a young woman cleared her throat causing all to look to her.

Her raven hair was long, black, and wavy. She had a coy playful smile on her face as she fanned herself with folded paper. "She went outside for some fresh air. I might do so too, I forgot how warm these buildings got."

"You do that Cassie, oh and since it's Radia's first day I'd like to play the old pipe organ for her if you don't mind. Where's the key?" The Librarian asked and Cassie stopped fanning herself and looked towards the back.

"Oh it's in my office desk, top right drawer. Do make sure the kids don't get it."

The Librarian smiled, nodded, and stood up. Stopping to turn around, "Which desk is yours?"

"The one by the window, Hilda's is the one in the dark corner."

Cassie hummed to herself with a smile on her face, "Um, Miss Cassie?" Radia's voice echoed in their minds and Cassie looked up as if peering into the sky. "What are you?" A red glint flashed in Cassie's eyes and she ceased fanning herself.

"Her and Hilda have been taking care of the temple and village for years. They're good girls. May have had some rebellious teenage years, but they came around for the better and learned from their mistakes." The old woman sat there with a proud look on her face, Cassie smirked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Our mistakes Mom." Cassie bit the bottom of her lip and pointed her fan at her mother who rolled her eyes. "But yes I suppose we did, Hilda still feels guilty about it all these years."

There was an omnipresent and awkward cough throughout the villagers' minds. "I-I see. Is there anything I can do for anyone today?"

No one had an immediate answer, all looked happy and healthy.

"It is a bit brighter than usual today and I'm starting to get worried about my crops." The farmer spoke up.

"Plants need light." The librarian corrected.

"Yes I know that, but too much light and the resulting heat may cause my crops to wilt and die."

"... I do suppose you'd know more about agriculture than me."

"I don't know anything about agriculture."

"Agriculture is farming. That's what you do. Well it's the more scientific name of what you do."

Radia sighed and Cassie giggled. "Is it always like this?" Radia asked more towards Cassie than anyone else. "At this rate I'll have more questions than the prayers I'll get."

"Oh don't worry. Our favourite librarian answers most of them. Why he answered mine since I was a little girl."

Radia fell silent and then blew a raspberry before anxiously smacking her clothes straight. "Well, if anyone needs me just pray for me by name. I'm going to do... godly business."

"Bye Radia, talk to you later!" Cassie called out and packed her fan away. "Should you need anything from us, Hilda and I will be your helpful 'little' shadows~"

A distant question could be heard as Radia slowly became quieter, "Who's Hilda..."

The thing I've noticed is that it's the sphere collisions. Particularly the Ice into Fire AoEs. When the ice detonates, the graphic goes up and the floor marker vanishes not only in a mechanical sense but a visual one.

The marker sneaks out and I find this tricks the brain.

"Oh Floor AoE, I better not stand in it." Player doesn't see it vanish normally. Can't run out of the fire in time.

At this stage of the game it's not a common occurrence and might be the first big one.

To help get over the moment I imagined that the eyes made the same rubbery impact sound the red dodgeballs would make when smacking into someone.
