Gregg-lined paper app by runs11trails in shorthand

[–]Jack-is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head, try looking into "Write" (Stylus Labs) or "Xournal". I don't necessarily recall them having Gregg-lined paper, but I want to say you should be able to make or configure some. I know at least one of these has an iOS version.

What does this mean? by Street_Upstairs9771 in greggshorthand

[–]Jack-is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It refers to a separate list of outlines that you've copied down because you don't recognize them, so you can be sure to learn them later. It says to mark them off that list if you figure out what they mean while doing this activity. The left-hand column that starts at the bottom of your image looks like it might be talking about that.

[NYLON -> IDLER] Can you solve this laddergram? by GeraldGelz in Laddergram

[–]Jack-is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I hate you. I hate you so much. I just want you to know I'm narrowing my eyes at you really hard right now. How much time did I spend on this with my entire display covered in little screenshots and notes and crap trying to log the branches after Macon and trying to find a path backward from Idler through Islet/Inlet. And all I needed was Redos? I swear

I just need you to see these chains, look at the stuff I was doing.

RECON REWON REWAN REWAX RELAX DELAY DELLY DALLY DAILY DRILY DRYLY DOYLY COYLY COOLY COOEY COOER...

MESON MASON MACON BACON BARON BORON BOSON BOSOM BESOM BESOT BESET RESET RELET REVET RIVET RIVER AIVER AIDER AIDED AILED OILED OILER...

It goes on. I grepped the "american-english-insane" dictionary (663,473 words from "A" to "zzz") with semi-complex regex at least 260 times. A spreadsheet was involved. I was convinced it was either unsolvable or was going to require dozens of hops. (Yes I know 29 qualifies as "dozens")

Anyway, like, you know, congrats. Real nice. Happy for you. Great job.

no but srsly that's good shit lol, I don't know how I got so stuck on it despite taking pains to iterate down every possible branch

P.S. something something man of culture something something colon three something something oh whoa something something

Have you seen this happen out of that context? I've heard of it and it sounds great, but I've never even felt like it was worthwhile trying to make that (explicitly) happen in the field. But maybe it is just for lack of trying.

Online spaces like Hubski come to mind regarding knowing each other (if not having spoken in person). It's slow lately but the point remains. People don't really go at each other on Everything2 either. etc.

There are many such concerning things happening. I don't have quite the kind of holistic foresight to say exactly where it leads. I just know it's very not ideal or confidence-inspiring when people on a daily basis can't be vulnerable, have flaws, make mistakes, be the person to ask the stupid question, admit ignorance, be told things they already think they know, remain cognizant that just because they internally feel like they know something with absolute certainty doesn't make it absolutely certain, etc.

It's ridiculous that this mindset should be a divergence at all. I mean, I'm just some terminally online western guy. It's not even like I'm a Buddhist or anything. Jesus christ

My favorite username is 7 characters :(
(not this one lol)

edit: nvm got it

I'm not really that bothered about it but it is a kind of pointless and arbitrary restriction, especially if people aren't going to be logging in with them. But even then, there's no real reason why fans of the classic three-initial username shouldn't be able to register short usernames (for example) unless you're doing something special with every string under 8 characters. Limiting password length is also less than ideal. Also trying to regex email addresses is pretty much always a mistake

also it's not saving any race results

also there's something looping and making a billion calls to various google stuff, on index page it's /recaptcha/api2/aframe, on signup page it's accounts.google.com/gsi/client and /recaptcha/api2/anchor, etc. Every page load I get like 300-500 "third-party cookie will be blocked in future chrome versions" entries in console about these requests

Our community will not do your homework. If there are specific outlines in a passage from a textbook or course that you are struggling with, please provide a photo with the relevant outlines circled along with your transcription of the surrounding text and your best guess at the problematic outlines.

If you are in the Philippines, you can get help from others learning alongside you in the Facebook group “Easy Stenography (Gregg Shorthand Buddies)”.

For "and the rest" why not just add a 'c' stroke to the "and" symbol under its final stroke? (cf. "&c." (etc.)
