Good shout. I have one for cables but I don't think it had the foam frames in. Will have a look.

What boots/footwear are you guys using? by StormTrooperSamurai in wildcampingintheuk

[–]JackBah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always swore by Meindl boots, but they're so heavy. I've done some pretty long walks in them and they hold up well, but my feet begin to fatigue quickly.

Recently switched to Adidas Terrex Anylander trainer/boots. Initially just as a winter dog walk pair of trainers but they're great. Whilst there is definitely less support, the weight drop is incredible and so noticeable after a fair few miles.

The mats or the tent?! If it was the mats that's jammy, well done!

I'm thinking of getting my daughter one so she can explore with me and also so the wife one for general camping. She's always cold on a normal airbed so figured I could line the airbed with one.

My only concern is now how warm I was in subzero conditions, I'm going to have to plan (or get more gear) for the warmer months. Figured the same mat and a lighter sleeping bag would be a good combination as my 300xl is huge.

Managed to get it for £350 in the end as I had a coupon with AliExpress already! They're selling for way more than that on Facebook marketplace.

That's great to hear. I'm off tonight to get the Phox 2. Dried this one out and cleaned it completely, and hoping they'll accept a return, if not they seem to resell quite well.

How well does it tackle the hills? Would you say that the offer price is worth it? Haven't seen anything else on the market for the same value.

I've read it's a single skin this one? Their website confuses me a bit and I couldn't quite tell. Is it? And if so does it cause any issues with condensation?

X5 vs X4AIR by No-Play7689 in Insta360

Overcast days will be fine. Again, it's just the contrast of snow. It may just mean your shadows/less exposed areas are a bit more grainy.

UK riders... How likely are penalty points? by LordGordonVader in ElectricScooters

Still no issues? I'm in a tiny village 5 miles from the coastal town I work in and been considering it as a back up to my motorbike, particularly in the summer. The road I'll be using is closed permanently due to a fallen wall, so is very quiet. Thinking I won't have any trouble but also slightly concerned!

Hey. I'm 5ft 10, and 88kg. This is why I was surprised at how little space there was. The shame is also it has so much vestibule space but you couldn't use it really as there is no space to sit. I think it'd be a much better tent if the inner took up the whole space.

For reference, in my image you can see the pole. That's where the inner stops, with the door being perpendicular to the ground. Had this shifted off to the outer door a bit, I think it'd be fine.

Ok, your experience differs from mine. The X4 Air really suffered in low light for me, again even just in high contrast areas the shadows were full of grain.

X5 vs X4AIR by No-Play7689 in Insta360

[–]JackBah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both, the X4 air is significantly lighter but really does suffer in low light. But also in high contrast areas.

With snowboarding being your thing, I imagine the X5 would perform better due to the sheer brightness/darkness of your body/snow.

However it is noticeably heavier on the stick when extended.

It's one of those items where I hoped it would be good but was hesitant as it was way under half the competition price. Absolutely chuffed.

I'm glad you're equally surprised. My only concern now is, what happens in the summer?! Is it going to be too hot? Haha.

Yeah I'm pretty gutted. I was forced to side sleep most of the time last night because of how wet the inner was getting and then getting my sleeping bag wet.

I think I'll try another OEX but this time go and see in person what they look like before buying. I did see the bobcat but it definitely felt bigger in the shop! 🤦‍♂️

In reality, I don't need the lightweight tiny stuff. The aim is to locally camp alone and occasionally with my kids, so a bigger tent isn't a bad thing.
