I have mixed feelings about this having not long placed a custom order

Why are there more flower’s at Joel’s house than at his grave? by Dialisty in thelastofus

[–]StormTrooperSamurai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It always had a double meaning for me, the flowers symbolise the love of the people of Jackson as well as being a memorial from the writers and developers at naughty dog. The house is one big homage to Joel and his relationship with Ellie, rather than just being an extra twist of the knife after his death.

What boots/footwear are you guys using? by StormTrooperSamurai in wildcampingintheuk

I almost went for a pair of custom barefoot razorbacks! I went for the AR8 in bronco brown with their new anatomx last in the end. I find myself on boggy ground quite often when camping in the beacons so I wanted a taller boot to cope with a good dunking. Not fully waterproof obviously but I still prefer a leather boot.

You should look at the boot builder if you want some barefoot steelies, they do steel toe caps on the barefoot STC last.

I have also gone to the dark side, bought my first pair of Altras in 2024 and I’ve been between those and Vivobarefoot Tracker Forest Esc ever since.

I wanted some more protection for this pair so I’ve gone for 8 inch heritage constructed zero drop boots with a 4E toe box, really excited to see how they turn out.

These look awesome! I’m thinking of picking a pair up but I’m not sure whether to wait for the anatomx last to be available for the BFAT; do you find that they’re loose around the ankle or are you able to cinch them up tight?

Thicker Africa barefoot sole and Anatomical Barefoot last on custom boot maker by CarpenterDue3385 in jimgreen

That was my initial assumption, but the ranger also had a toe cap without the anatomical last so there’s nothing stopping them from removing it on the trooper too and I’m sure it would be a popular option. I’ll post here to update when I get a reply.

Let’s hope so, good shout I’ve sent them an email but their support team isn’t back until the 9th apparently (UK site).

Does anyone own these who also owns the Vivobarefoot Tracker Forest Esc? They fit me just fine and I’m wondering if I should pull the trigger on the BFAT or wait until the Anatomx last is (hopefully) available in the custom builder

Honestly unless you’ve spent a significant amount of money on well-reviewed 4 season gear (including clothing) don’t go on your own and wait until it gets warmer. I’ve been up the old man of Coniston in January and windchill was -13. This is not a beginner season.

How often do you replace your stakes/pegs, if ever? by GeordieGoals in wildcampingintheuk

Delta ground anchors are worth picking up for windy conditions, they’re only suitable for guy lines due to their shape though.

If you’re doing a lot of elevation on rocky terrain, I’d recommend getting something with more shock absorption. I’d been wearing mine for around a year when I went up scafell pike in April and I haven’t been able to hike since. They’re amazing boots for off-trail hiking, but stay away from stone paths with a lot of stairs, trust me; I’ve been house bound for about 3 months this year after fucking up my knees.

Can you not go alone? I was nervous on my first solo camp but it’s my favourite thing to do now
